Beers that taste the same?

Alesmith X tasted oddly similar to Firestone Pale 31 last time I had it. Not identical, but closer than I remember.

 

Hop Hunter is very different from Torpedo and Celebration Ale.

 

I'll be that guy: Most BMC AALs/light beers taste the same.

 

Ruthless is the bees tits! Not sure if they're still bottling it? Hope so

 

Is would say Obsidian and Black Butte are a little too close for comfort(being from the same brewery)
Both are excellent beers nonetheless

I actually like Saranac's variety packs for that reason - there's a familial quality that let's you go from one to another and back without what I call "tongue fatigue." The differences are there, they just don't shoot for the over-the-top effect that so many breweries do.

 

Hop hunter I did enjoy also the the hop oil is somthing I'd like to see more of in IPAs for sure.

I just think they all have a similar base to them. I do t really think they all taste the same I was exaggerating a bit.

 

Ruthless is not on the release calendar this year, which is disappointing.

Flipside is only in the Fall Pack.

 

I feel the same way about Stone beers.

What separates one IPA from another are the secondary attributes.

 

One of the local breweries here (Thomas Creek) makes and Amber and a Red Ale, had them back to back on draft at the airport, I couldn't tell them apart, other than a little color

 

They are "special" http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/style/128/. Hands down my least favorite brewery in the state.

Great Lakes Christmas Ale and Thirsty Dog - 12 Dogs of Christmas. It's the same beer (or it's a mysteriously amazingly different beer which happens to taste the exact same)

Rhinegeist - Truth and Rhinegeist - Zen, they taste like the same beer only the Zen is slightly lighter.
