I'm missing the point of this post.

I applaud the post by @Scott17taylor.

This commercial by AB is simply disingenuous given all of the other advertising they have produced over the years.

Sometimes I think the AB Marketing & Sales department is full of idiots.

    Cheers!

I wish we could do an experiment where we replace the Budweiser in the commercial with Founders or some other large craft company. Then all of the people that are saying "This is PR garbage!" could say "Look at how responsible craft beer companies are, always looking out for the community! You'd never see Budweiser do anything like that!"

    Knock Budweiser, don't knock Budweiser...whatever.

But don't be a hypocrite. Because one thing craft beer is not, is responsible. At least a Budweiser is only 5% in a 12 oz. bottle/can, or at most a pint. Craft beer is an industry who's most popular format is arguably the 16 oz. can of double IPA. How many > 10% abv imperial stouts come in 12 oz. bottles? IPAs in a pint glass at the bar? What's the average abv of craft beer? I imagine it's at least > 6%.

All one has to do is read through one of the routine, "How many beers do you drink per week" threads and realize moderate craft beer drinkers (at least on this website) are few and far between. This is simply an observation, I'm not judging anyone's personal consumption.

There's hypocrisy to it, regardless. It reminds me of when the macro lager distributors here talk about how their brands are all about public safety, then go back to selling 30 packs.

You know what I love? A 15 pack of All Day IPA. And I'll crush 5 of them like it's no big deal. I guess Founder's is just as bad, or at least half as bad, based on your reasoning.

It's not really even the Bud part that bothers me, although I agree it's 100% PR. It's being talked down to by that old hag. I would love to look into what she was doing in her 20's and 30's. I'll bet there's a few things she's done that would make her an "utterly useless waste of space" or whatever she said. This whole thing just absolutely reeks of hypocrisy throughout.

I understand what you're saying, but logically there's nothing wrong with a 30 pack.

If I was a loyal Bud Light drinker, I'd buy 30 packs. Why wouldn't I? It's cheaper. Moderate drinking for a male is considered 2 drinks per day. That's 14 per week. The Bud Light isn't going to expire in two weeks.

I can buy Enjoy By by the case though. That's 9.4% abv per bottle, and actually DOES expire in six weeks. I suppose if I have one per day, I'd still be moderately drinking...although then I have 24 days to finish it, so I hope I buy it 2.5 weeks or less from the bottling date...

Can't blame the breweries, its the individual who has to keep him/her self in check.

I didn't realize I said that Bud is bad, craft is unimpeachable.

I do think that these ads are calculating, and that if Budweiser was truly feeling an ethics crisis over drunk driving, it could do one very simple thing: raise their prices. Don't be a leader based on cost. You're the king of beers, the Great American Lager, right? Then why so cheap? Otherwise one enables mass consumption. Think that'll happen?

I'm not taking it directly. I've never had a DUI, and as I get older I realize driving drunk is a very stupid, irresponsible thing to do. If we're honest, I'm sure many of us here have had some there but for the grace of God moments in our lives, me included. There's just something about the tone of this thing that I find very distasteful. The implication that the British don't get drunk and do stupid shit also makes my head hurt.

Driving drunk is moronic. The message is sound regardless of where it comes from. Ive seen similar and worse acts of drunkenness from the craft crowd as I've seen from the BMC crowd.

The price is one of the selling points for the beer. Also, if you look at some of the other "swill" for sale at your bottle shop, you'll see that Bud isn't that cheap.

No argument here. I've absolutely witnessed people driving buzzed or drunk countless times following large bottle shares; where there's simply no physical way they could be below a 0.08

I think the implication is that the British are blunt and direct.

The tone I got was that it was tongue in cheek, faux serious, over the top, saying things out loud that you'd never say in polite company. But maybe our English members here could confirm whether I'm in touch with their style of humour or not.

I think it was the "collective we" part. I may have misinterpreted. To sum it up, I agree don't drive drunk. It's stupid and dangerous. I also still really hate this woman. I think that's a fair place to leave it. Cheers!
