Why don't the craft beer makers attempt to make a better adjunct beer. Is it possible? Is it called a pilsner or pale (insert country name) lager? I know they won't have the scale to compete with the marcros but it is interesting that no one has tried, to my knowledge. There are so many people that I know that really don't like heavy handed hops or dark beers. How could craft brewers go after them?

Great Divide's Samurai was a damn good rice beer before they retired it. Reasonably priced too.

Grapefruit, mango, pineapple, blood orange and coffee come to mind. They are all doing a pretty decent job in their respective areas.

I wish there were more lagers brewed here closer to the quality of Euro lagers, ie Warsteiner, Kronenberg etc. Even Stella and Heineken.

In other words I'd like shitty lagers that are little better than the really shitty Bud, Coors, Miller. I'm sick of paying import (craft) prices on Euro lagers.

Some people just like adjunct lager. There's nothing wrong with it and if they're happy drinking their bud light let them enjoy their bud light,

@Mardukk, the best example of a beer matching your criteria that I can think of is Session Lager from Full Sail. It's as easy-drinking as your average adjunct lager, but doesn't taste "cheap" the way that so many adjunct lager brands do.

It's priced competitively (lower than most year round Craft brands at $9.99 12-pack, on sale) and if more Craft breweries could market a lager like Session, there'd be a lot more "non-Craft drinkers" jumping on the Craft Beer bandwagon.

Laughing Dog's Two-One-Niner is actually an attempt to do a solid, crafty version of the American Adjunct Lager style (they're quite open about the role that corn plays in the recipe), and I think it's actually a pretty decent beer, all things considered. The issue is that (locally, at least) it costs 3x as much as buying one of the big American adjunct lagers--so you're that, if nothing else, economies of scale are certainly in play here.

PBR already is the perfect adjunct beer. Great price too

Though not an adjunct....As far as pilsners go, you can't really go wrong with Sierra Nevada's Nooner. One of my favorites at a good price

Why should small breweries try brewing something that is already brewed by the biggest breweries on Earth? Why , I have no idea.

Caldera makes an AAL called Lawnmower Lager. They also price it the same as six packs of MBC beers, so it's a great when you want something cheap and sessionable, but also want to, like, taste stuff.

The Bruery's Humulus Lager is technically an adjunct lager; rice is used to make a good portion of its grain bill. The beer is currently rated with a 4.32 score, but the beer is only available on draft.

Is it just me or did I read the OP wrong? I'm assuming he meant a beer like AAL because a whole lot of craft beers have adjuncts

From the B.A.'s "official" - for them  - list of "Craft Brewers" from the last few years, there's also Yuengling Premium,
    F. X. Matt's pre-Saranac flagship, Utica Club, Shiner ____(whatever Spoetzl is calling its AAL these days), Schell's Deer Brand and Grain Belt, Point Special, Straub Lager, Lionshead, and whatever AAL brands Minhas and Cold Spring are brewing these days.

Perhaps when the average beer geek's interest starts to broaden we'll start to see some more Classic American Pilsners being made. Those are made to order, with about 20% corn and a noticeable presence of noble hops; they were the precursors to the AALs of today ( the bitterness being the real key ).
