Anyone know where I could find any of these bottles in or around manhatten?

Saw it this morning on Beermenus at Bread & Honey in midtown listed at $20. Arrived to find only an empty case. To be fair, I arrived 20 whole minutes after it was posted. I inquired at the front counter to see if any were left, the owner replied with a belabored sigh "No More Grimm" to the delight and laughter of the cashiers. Since this place notoriously never has bottle limits, I'm assuming the first person there just bought the whole case. I saw two other soon-to-be-disappointed BAs frantically scouring the beer section as I left. :slight_frown:

It was a 1 bottle/2 can pp limit.

Yeah, I was the first one there. Even the ladies at the cashier thought it was 2 bottles each per person, but I told them I doubt it's true. I was right.

So no, I did not buy the whole case, and I would never do such a thing! I would have bought several if I could have, for sure, but not even close to all of it.

This is what I find perplexing, and I'm genuinely curious about.

I have a job. I'm not saying this as a judgement on other peoples' hours, mine just happen to be during the day. Even if I didn't have normal hours, however, I don't know how I'd know to "be the first one there" without just lurking around the stores all day. Do you go there regularly enough that you know when they put the beer out? Do you have an in with the manager?

I'm really not judging, I'm just more often in the position of @ChairfaceChippendale and @cavedave than I am @CraftFan5, and I'm just curious "what it takes" to be there when these types of shipments drop.

A very fair question. My office happens to be across the street from Bread & Honey, and we're allowed to drink at my office after hours. So... I often drop into B&H for something to drink in the evening, so they know me there pretty well. And the manager is a friendly guy, so when he sees me he tells me anything new that's coming in. That being said, they are extremely good about posting to beermenus.com at B&H, so when something pops up I can literally be there in under 2 minutes. I work extremely hard and long hours, so there is absolutely no issue with anyone at my company going out for a coffee or to run an errand, etc. in the middle of the day, you feel?

Definitely. Again, no judgement on you or your work ethic! I'm guessing many beer chasers work odd hours, are independent contractors, waiters, whatever - lots of reasons why someone can be gainfully employed and free during "beer drop" hours!

Was more perplexed as to how many people seem to have the freedom to drop everything and run to grab beer. I suppose if I had beer alerts turned on it might be a start, anyhow.

I'd hardly call it a chase when I just have to cross the street. I am lucky to have a store so close by. At my last job, when my hours were a pretty strict 8:30 to 5:30, I would have had a really hard time getting anything during the day.

This is exactly what is going to happen at every Whole Foods tomorrow. Since the shipments didn't come in Wednesday, I imagine most know that Friday is the only chance. I could duck into a WF during my workday, but hanging around and waiting is something that I 1) choose not to do and 2) cannot do.

Yeah, I get off work near Columbus Circle at about 1:00, so I'll swing by on my way to the subway. If they have them, great. if not, no biggie.

Hey you do you. Personally, I'm hosting a bonfire/bottle share in the cheese aisle. Feel free to swing by.
