Weihenstephaner 1516 Kellerbier

Excellent, looking forward to this as I would any new product from Weihenstephaner.

I have never heard of this beer before. Has anybody tried this beer? If so, what d you think about it?

i tried a hoppy weissbier at the brewery durong the summer. not sure if this one but was very good. the Paulaner brauwery (the paulaner brewepub)here in Munich also did a hoppy weisse during the summer. also outstanding. really like this trend of fruity hops weiss biers.

 

I emailed Total Bev Solutions to verify an ETA on this beer and here is what the rep came back with:

"The 1516 Kellerbier will be released in April (official release date is April 23) to coincide with the 500th anniversary of the German Purity Law."

They also responded to my inquiry within about 10 minutes from the general email form on their website, which impressed me.

 

I really need to try more from them besides the hefeweissbier

My local store called their distributor and they were saying early March for delivery!

 

So this would be hitting distro a month before the German release? Very strange. I also read in the article that there was only one hectare of the aroma hop they used so I really wonder what availability will be like. Could this be the first ever hyped/rare German beer release? Sold at your local grocery store for $2.99?

 

Looking forward to Hop City in B'ham getting this one. I'll check it out. Have a feeling I'll love it.

I'll most definitely be purchasing this one. Plus, because it's new, I won't need to decode their crazy freshness labeling.

 

I noticed that, and also noticed they have the "Josefi Bock" listed. I have never seen that stateside either. Sounds like a spring release as well.

Pretty sure I have had that one on draft here in the states before. I want to say last spring I saw it local here.
