I see that this was posted

    http://russianriverbrewing.com/pliny-the-younger-release/

I was wondering if anyone with Portland connections knows who will have it.
Being from Seattle I haven't gotten the chance to try it and would love to come down for an event.
I think I saw Belmont station? had it last year but was already sold out when I was there.

Places that had it last year: Higgens, Bailey's, Horse Brass, Apex, Beer Mongers, Saraveza, Belmont Station, Green Dragon, Roscoes, Side Street, and (I think) Hop & Vine.

Last year Horse Brass, Beer Mongers, Side Street, and Roscoe's all tapped their kegs on random days with no fanfare or notice. Pretty much everyone else announces it at some point ahead of time.

Edit: keep an eye on the New School Beer site as we get closer to the release. They've done a solid job of reporting when and where it's tapping for at least a couple years now, and I assume they'll do it again this year.

This is a little off topic (but not that off topic compared to how some of this sub goes often), but I was at Blitz-Ladd killing time a couple months ago and was very surprised that they had Pliny on tap.

Very happy I had PtY at Last Drop in 2012 before FOMO was an acronym.

    I think that's the off-topic part.

Yup! I meant to bring it up off topic around fresh hop time because I was at Beer Mongers, Blitz-Ladd and uh... somewhere else and was gonna talk about fresh hops around then + off topic but... I never got around to it. So... shoehorned!

Still a great beer, but you could walk blindfolded in Portland and run in to something just as good or better

Any updates on PtY in Portland? Been pretty quiet so far.

Sorry Russian River but Younger was good 10 years ago but now I could really care less. With tons of great IIIPA's around like Boneyard Notorious and many others like http://www.wahopmob.com/the-beers/ and more, I can live without Younger.

Standard's Philistine IIIPA was pretty fantastic

Totally agree that there are probably much better triple IPAs out there (huge fan of Notorious), but would like to try Younger at least once! Haven't seen anything at all from the usual spots in PDX. Anyone know of a timeframe?

Block 15 The Incredible is the only IIIPA I've ever had in the same league as PtY and Notorious

I think this goes against the "Shhhh..." campaign regarding good beer in WA.

Ummmm.... I read the PNW_Walez post several times, and for all the world, it sounded like he was asking where he could find PtY on tap in PDX, as opposed to where he could find a suitable, locally made, "superior" substitute.

To answer your question PNX_Walez, I'm sorry I don't know, but here's a good starting point:

    http://thefullpint.com/events/hopwatch-2016-where-to-find-pliny-the-younger/

You didn't ask for my opinion regarding the quality of PtY, but just in case you might be interested...

I think it's a great beer. Worthy of all the hype and insane lines? Probably not, but that's for you to determine. It's a very good beer, and if you haven't tried it, then of course I understand your interest in wanting to try what many folks feels is the holy grail of TIPA's.

Anyway, I'm down in California this week, and the beer is just starting to show up on tap around the bay area. Typically, PDX starts getting kegs roughly a week or so later, so it shouldn't be long now. I would keep an eye on this thread... more than likely, someone will post an update if they hear something. If you have a local beer bar you visit on a regular basis, that happens to be on the list above, then of course I would recommend asking the bartender there about it.

    Good luck

Thanks for answering my original question! I do agree that there are likely equal if not better IIIPA's in Portland, although I would at least like to try it once. Will be checking that site and this thread as well. Cheers
