Have about 15 folks so far. Nice mix of OG'ers, guys from Round 2 and totally new guys. Don't forget to send info if you'd like to join. I'm tracking through BM's and then a spreadsheet. Thanks guys.
What's this tingly feeling I'm starting to get thinking about the look on my targets face when they open my box...I like it.
Hadn't checked back in here in a while as I've tried to limit my trading and bombing and LIVing after some financial Fuck ups revolving around air travel (and 3 cases of Trillium from EBF), but lo and behold the day before my bday I see that everyone is gearing up for round 3. Dearest Target, I wish you luck in learning to cope with the sadness and rage that comes with living in a Post-Porch life. @Yourahoser Chad I think you have my info but I'll send it all to ya again sometime tomorrow. Also:Epic Bottle Share pics incoming sometime tomorrow while I lay in bed Hungover all day.
In for round 3. #Cif going out on Monday. Cif hint one. It's going south. Only two people entered, so check your porches if you sent me a message.
W'ere at halfway part of sign-ups. The following is who I have so far. I'm tracking through BM's. If you'd like to join shoot me a message and I'll add you to the list. @Josholson666 @Greeny87 @Jwilford23 @beluga92 @jonbonfondle @Homebrew @oldmetalguy @nshvllbeer @Fallingcycle @Eziel @Doogflaggat @JoeyIce3 @Avelasquez80 @beatjunkee @StompingClover @Elkevjoe @MTKATL @BartS That's 18 so far. Sign-ups close next Friday. Cheers!!!
Also, just a friendly reminder. Make sure to update your wants. This is useful because 1) You may actually get some wants and 2) It gives your sender an idea of what styles you like, other than what I will sending in your BM's. Try to use seekabrew when it comes to finding out what's in other's people markets. The site isn't always up to date but is at least a reference point. You can also use the websites of any local chain liquor store like a Total Wine. They have search features that if you're curious about a beer being sent there, it might be a good reference point. If you have any questions that can't seem to be answered, just shoot me a BM and I will ask around. Next, when it comes to IPAs - always try to send fresh as possible. As a general rule of thumb, I wouldn't send anything less than 6 weeks (and that's really pushing it). 2-3 weeks is ideal. If an IPA is on the six-week side, hopefully it wouldn't be a main component of the box and is just an aside. Lastly, Lottery It Forward (LIFs) are encourage but not required. In my short experience of BIFs, LIFs help to add a really fun element to the group. These don't have to be big boxes or be walez, just a little something to help others try beer that they normally wouldn't get to.
Speaking of, it feels like we haven't had one in a while, so I'm going to get one going! I'll make this real simple for both myself and participants (I don't feel like being creative). Simply like this post and around Noon on Sunday I'll shut it down and randomly draw a winner. Box will ship out on Monday or Tuesday. Open to Newbie BIF round 1 and 2 participants as well as lurkers. ALSO open to my fellow MN BIF'ers (I think I can scrounge up a few out-of-distro goodies if you win).
Basically, just a giving away of free beer. There are lots of ways to do it, some involve guessing, some involve just liking a post. It's up to sender to decide. Once a winner is determined, you can either ask for them their deets or ninja them. So far I have all your addresses (Muahahaha) so I can provide them if need be for a stealth attack.
Not in on this round but I will offer up a LIF. I'll send a box to whoever sends the best box as voted by your peers. After all of the boxes have landed for this round I'll post a message asking everyone who participated to vote for the shipper who they believe sent the best box, most votes win. Cheers and happy BIF'ing!
