Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! I haven’t brewed a beer in around 3 months, so I am changing that today. American brown ale I brewed in 2014, for another re-kegging. I have a session mead keg that will be easy to kick in the next week or two. This was one of my favorite recipes, all hop bursted with no bittering addition. https://www.brewtoad.com/recipes/hop-burst-brown-1 I am planning on brewing more stuff this month for bottling, Belgian pale ale probably. I wanted to try out the new dry Belgian strains anyways. I lucked out this morning, as I had just enough RO water in my closet to make my adjusted water for the mash and sparge. I need to go buy another 10 gallons. Hit my mash target area of 152-153.

Here is what I am drinking this morning:

This is a damn good gose. flavors of lightly tart lemon, lime, grapefruit, pear, green apple, orange peel, coriander, sea salt, wheat, cracker, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light fruit tartness, citrus peel bitterness, and earthy spice on the finish; very smooth and crisp, with light wheat creaminess and balanced acidity/salinity in the mouthfeel. Light-medium dryness. Medium carb/light-medium bodied. A really spot on example of the style here. Not as acidic as most of the other American made Gose; but still had a solid amount, similar to the German one's I've had. Extremely well balanced. Glad it is year round because I will be getting another 6 pack eventually; after I finish this one. Very flavorful and refreshing.

Outstanding as usual. Big bright flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, and pine; with some light honey/bready malt balance and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Good sized pine/citrus rind bitterness; nice dry finish with a sticky/resinous mouthfeel and no lingering hop or pith astringency. Starting to get outside of optimum freshness at this point, but still delicious. I constantly grab random singles of Ballast Point’s beers ever since they entered the state. I love pretty much the whole lineup regardless of style.

Tasting amazing this year as usual. Juicy grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, apricot, mango, lemon/orange peel, and pine hops; with moderate honey/bready malt sweetness and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness; with a balanced creamy/sticky medium-full bodied mouthfeel. Light-moderate dryness. Not overly sweet or bitter, extremely well balanced. Never disappoints.

This is fantastic! Flavors of huge nutty dark roasted coffee; with chocolate, cocoa, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted bread, vanilla, cream, bourbon, oak, and light dark fruits. Light-moderate bourbon/oak spice and roasted coffee bitterness; nice balanced bitter/sweet finish with a fairly full bodied creamy/silky mouthfeel; touch of sticky/chalky coffee notes as well. Warming finish but minimal booziness, smooth sipping stuff. The coffee character in this beer is absolutely enormous. Everything is incredibly well balanced and not overly barrel heavy. Glad I bought more and it is still available on the shelf. Definitely worth the price for me, same with Bomb! and others.

    Cheers!

Last one of these for the year. I would LOVE for SN to make this one year-round, or at least have this one stand alone in a sixer in the fall/winter. One can only hope..

Not today! Waiting for punch list. I have a little painting to do, then a second round of (hopefully) minor carpentry.

Fun with Founders Breakfast Stout, Day 2. After yesterday's side by side of two FBS bottled two weeks apart, I figured I'd try something else today. Took the FBS defiled coffee cup, poured in a splash of the chocolate liqueur I bought for the Mrs last weekend (anything more than that and I'll be useless today) and added coffee from my favorite coffee place when I lived in LA. I've found that if you're going to do the same thing everyday, it doesn't hurt to have some weird fun with it every now and then. Unfortunately, the Viennese blend is so strong it overpowers everything. I'm getting faint sweetness from the chocolate but none of the flavor. Still a nice experiment.

Good morning BAs! Another sunny day here in NW PA - we should be into our allotment for 2019 by now. Gotta go to the strip district in PGH this morning to stock up on dog biscotti for our upcoming trip to TX - it'll be a short one because I'm working around winter break at die Uni. I should be able to get to Jester King once anyway which means more TX beer heading north. Today's beer is one that I've had previously and decided to use to rush the goat season:

My database shows that I'd rated it a solid "Eh" previously - no change today.

Morning time on the weekend! Time for a beverage - juice for the GF, coffee for me:

Last Risen from second collaboration 12-pack. See more hitting shelves but doubt they did a second run and the hoppy beers were less amazing this second pack (but still good). Any of them could be made again individually and I'd be happy. Thanks Devil's Backbone and collaborators.

Finally saw The Force Awakens last night, seemed a familiar plot line, but [edit] a good movie. Only had one beer (Victory Helles) right before showtime I snapped a bad pic and no time to post. Love the new theatre concept of having beer, but it can be a challenge avoiding the restroom during the movie sometimes.

    Happy Saturday BA's!

Wow, warm and sunny already, and I am headed to Columbus soon to hang out with my daughter - we are going to hit Wolf's Ridge, Lineage and a few other spots down her way and do some 60+ degree later winter hiking...love it!

In the meantime...getting a little "slammed"

    Cheers all....enjoy your Saturday!
