I think it's probably that someone saw "TH" and Tired Hands came to mind, when the original poster was actually referring to Tree House

This thread is full of so much IPA emotion. I love Brooklyn to death, that damn G train. I've gotta say Aslin is on that 2nd anniversary level. Grimm even called OH "hard as fuck", so I wont get into comparing Aslin to Grimm (Different IPA styles).

Yes, another OH/Treehouse/Trillium type NE IPA is being made, its world class (Sorry?).

@guezeinthehouse. I stopped by TH Friday evening and picked up some of their DIPA, Bright. While it's not Julius, Im happy to bring a couple cans to Aslin and do a blind taste test and see what people think. Also, for what it's worth, I think Aslin's IPA's are juicer than Hillstead Farms, which I was at yesterday (and also better in general though that could be personal preference).

What a great offer. I'm in if I can make it at the appointed time. FWIW I totally agree on your take on HF.

I was going to ask if we could move the newly perpetual Aslin and Ocelot love fests to the Aslin appreciation thread, but it looks like the mods actually listened to the requests to delete the thread. You guys may already have too much power.

Nah they just moved it to the South Atlantic forum because of arbitrary census classificaltions.

I tried asking them to move it back to midatlantic so it wouldn't overflow here. They couldn't have cared less.

I find HF IPAs are much more balanced, not straight up juice bombs like Grimm or Tree House, so this makes sense. Aslin being better than HF overall is high praise indeed, and makes me more excited to visit. I'm doubtful that it can surpass HF for me from an overall portfolio perspective (HF farmhouse ales are some of my favorites), but I do love juicy IPAs so it sounds right up my alley from that standpoint.

This still baffles me that they separate VA into another forum. I know it's been discussed here ad nauseam, but I just wanted to reiterate how strange it is that they continue to be so strict about this. It really screws everyone discussing DC-area breweries, because the region gets split into two sub-forums. Seems like they have something against the DC metro area to divide like this.

Yeah they're really hard-headed about this, I've never been able to figure out why either. Its dumb.

This thread is DC/MD/Nova, why can't there be a thread of local brewery news and discussion with the same focus?
That would allow more detailed discussion of the merits and plans of all those breweries, without reference only to new releases.

That's a good point - there's no reason there couldn't be two DC/MD/Nova threads, one for releases and one for discussing area breweries.

Aren't the breweries in discussion releasing new beers on a regular basis? Sorta fits here IMO.

Pretty sure he was talking about the fact that you called it "hillstead farms." But seriously though, does Aslin's overall lineup of beers surpass Hill Farmstead?

@berto714 Good call. And yes, a 6th grader can spell better than I.

Aslin can't match Hillstead farms product offerings though Ocelot is close (outside of the barreleing). It's nice to know, however, that we have two world class breweries within an hour of DC. As they mature it will be great for all of us - and it's not going unnoticed:
