    Releasing on Saturday:

Heard from quite a few folks that this beer is awesome, worth stopping by for a bottle if you're in the Seattle area this weekend...

Perfect timing for me as I'll be visiting from Minnesota this weekend. Are Holy Mountain releases usually crazy busy? Long lines? Also, does Holy Mountain have any "shelf beers" that can be found at distro?

I think they've only had one or two releases that qualified as crazy busy with long lines. But of course, it was crazy busy by NW standards, which may not be nearly as crazy or busy as other parts of the country.

As for shelf beers, fairly certain you won't find any.

Since other people can't shut up, I'll just say the beer is damn good. Split a pour with my wife at the Anniversary Party last month. Very low carbonation as the name would imply, fyi.

Crazy busy and long lines. We normally don't have lines for releases in WA, but Holy Mountain does.

They don't really have shelf beers, but you might still be able to find Misere Au Borinage around town if you look hard.

Cue up all the beer trading mules. If you look at their Instagram comments for the bottle release half the people on there are talking about "getting me some bottles" and "ISO, I have this to trade". I went to one Holy Mtn release and I saw one guy with 3 other people and when they left the 3 people gave the one guy all their bottles since there are limits on what one person can get. FUCK THAT SHIT...drink and enjoy the beer and SHARE it with friends, don't be the asshole that hoards it all for them self or "trades up".

we talking 2-3 hours before the 12PM release or crazy overnight lines for this release? lol gonna be visiting this weekend from San Diego and not sure what the turnout is for releases in the Northwest

yup, the instagram comments look a lot like a treehouse release. not a good sign.

i think most of us here know that there's no reason for anyone to line up in Seattle for a $15, 500ml barrel-aged beer. there's maybe a half-dozen other barrel-aged stout releases throughout the year from other breweries that apparently nobody gives a shit about. tickers come out in masses for holy mountain bottle releases, and i wouldn't be surprised if 50% of the line maxes out their allotment and ships at least half of their bottles out-of-state for some other low bottle count beer.

i'm rambling, i just find this culture so stupid. lines are stupid, and shipping low-bottle count beers is stupid. i get the art of ticking, but say no to FOMO, y'all. let's drink the beer we brew.

As the name would imply, is this beer flat? I know some people don't mind still beer, but I really can't dig it.

if you're in town and don't want to waste a couple hours of your time queued up in line, here's some bottles around town that are similar in nature/turding it up on shelves:
    • fremont bourbon abominable (probably could find the 2014, too)
    • fremont BBA dark star
    • odin wildeorness RIS
    • two beers BBA jive espresso stout
    • wander bourbon-barrel aged beers

    what else am i missing?

The Facebook comments are the same thing. People from the other side of the country tagging friends in the hopes that someone will get it for them. I'm buying 2 or 3 bottles. One for my dad as a birthday present and I'll keep the other one or two for myself to share with my wife and friends. I've got a rule of buying no more than 2 of anything for myself. There's so much beer available. I'm also not a fan of people buying stuff on release day with the sole intention of shipping it out of state. Shipping low bottle count stuff out of state IS stupid. You're screwing locals out of an opportunity to buy the stuff. I know people disagree with this. Capitalism. Supply and demand. Tradz for .rar bro. Gotta take care of my trading partners. Whatever. I'm weird. I know.

It's nearly flat. I had a pour from the keg at the anniversary party last month and it had just the faintest hint of carbonation.

I'll probably get there at 11am. The longest I've ever waited at a HM release is 90 minutes, and that was before they streamlined the bottle sales by separating draft pours to it's own line.

Also, don't be surprised if the bottle limit gets cut while you're waiting in line. That happened with the Phosphene release.

Two Beers also released Fall Line four days ago, so there might be some left. Not a stout, but Reuben's just finished canning their gose. @BB952, you'd be very lucky to find Holy Mtn bottles since batches are limited (alternatively, you can get growler fills at their brewery). I was at Engine 9 in Tacoma on Sunday and they had a couple bottles of The Goat for sale. If you find yourself there, definitely get some E9 bottles

Misere Au Borinage is around town still. $15 a bottle at least two stores in Seattle. I should probably buy another. What a fantastic grisette.

CC Bbomb is super plentiful at the PCC by my house in Green Lake.

I agree. In fact, that's why De Garde decided to sell their 2016 anniversary tickets on premise only. All this hype is exactly what happens with their releases: limited batches = whalez = people shitting their pants. It's obnoxious. At the end of the day, it's just beer. I'm sorry. To quote @ballardbeer:

    Amen.

Holy Mountain is one of my favorite local breweries. I stop in once a week for a beer and really appreciate what they're doing. I want to continue to support them, so I'll be at their releases (haven't missed one yet) regardless of the craziness that I will likely continue to complain about.

I've had bottles (e.g. Grey Tower, The Goat), but finally made it the brewery for the first time this weekend. I was very impressed! I had Five of Swords and they've solidified my love for barrel-aged saison and all things Brett. I wish I could make it to their releases but I live in Vancouver :-(
