I know that CCB has said not to line up in the actual line before 10am, is this not just going to turn into 2,000 people "hanging around" the line area and making a mad dash for the line at 10?? Wonder how that will work out..

It's exactly what's going to happen. They're going to tell people they can't line up and so people will stand as close as they're allowed. Then they'll be a mob run towards the line area at 10 am. Someone will likely get hurt in the mad dash and we'll get an email the next day explaining that they're always learning and they'll figure it out for next year.

I'm a CCB fanboy but it always amazes me how they don't figure out obvious problems ahead of time. Hopefully they surprise me and have some sort of "pre-line line" maybe.

How else would you propose they handle it? There's not really an easy way to get around the fact that there will be 3,500 people that want to be the first ones into the event.

I'm not sure I don't plan events for a living. However, there are people you can hire that do. You could also meet with the City of Tampa and discuss the event and what is likely to happen and the best way to keep it organized.

You have to limit the shit show. It's going to be one but simply saying no lining up until 10 is going to invite disaster.

Last year was fine because they just let people line up. The line went forever but it worked and was organized the check in process just took to long. They've solved that issue for this year apparently but it's a new venue and based on past experience expect there will be some large issues.

No 3,498 people. I'm not gonna try and fight my way through all that crap. I'll come strolling in a little after 11 with no wait. There's plenty of great beer there. No need to wait an hour for dem whalez!

The solution would be to setup multiple entry points at least 4 in the 4 corners of the park, so that the people lining up early will be disbursed into 4 groups. At least this would speed up the entry process and equally disburse people into the event areas. The park is a big rectangle.

I'll be there at 9. Just because that's how I am and I'll want to get the "whales" that are on tap early. I wish I didn't care but I do.

There is an annual comic convention at the TBCC (adjacent the Marriott / Embassy Suites) and they usually have a line of thousands of people outside and down the side walk/across the bridge to Harbor Island starting at 8am or earlier. Tampa doesn't seem to mind a line for that.

So, a large gathering of nerds is better than a large gather of alcoholics. Makes sense to me.

I would think a large line of alcoholic adults before a beer event would be much safer scenario for the city than a larger line of nerds with their families - many of which are kids ages 5-18 years old.

My point was just to state that with the right planning, a large group of people in a line can be managed safely. Someone involved with this event just doesn't want to deal with it.

It is a big rectangle ... with the southern long end along the channel that runs between the Hillsborough River and the port channel and the east end butted up against the history center That said, you're right: They could have at least two check-in points at the NW and NE corners.

Those groups aren't mutually exclusive. If anything, our little community here consists largely of alcoholic nerds ...

Have they showed on a map where you will be able to enter from. I am assuming there will be an entrance at the Marriott because that is where you can get your Huna and reenter. Thoughts?

Oh I know, I typed that while working at home, watching Batman. Adam West Batman mind you, so I'm definitely in the later.

"Lining up before 10:00am is prohibited. There will be local police present to enforce this."

Are you prepared to deal with the local police?! I heard they will be armed with scissors to cut your wristbands off and confiscate.

I won't be lining up. I'll just be "walking around" in a very small area that happens to be very close to where the line starts.
