My wife and I just visited Portland Oregon a couple of weeks ago and, completely by accident I tried Notorious. I couldnt believe what I was tasting. My buddy, who just got the beer because he wanted to catch a buzz, gave me a sip, and I was blown away! Easily the best really big IPA that I have ever had (and I have had Exponential Hoppiness from Alpine Beer Co, Pliny, and Maharaja, to name a few).

I've checked the brewery web site and searched the forums here and haven't found any clues as to the hops they are using. The grain bill is less of a mystery to me, but I would love to know if anyone has any info on either malt or grains. I would love to brew a beer that is even half of what Notorious is.

    Here's to hoping.

I've only had the RPM IPA from Boneyard and it was among the best IPAs I had in 2015. So I"m on the lookout for more from them.

I don't have a source for this... but I feel like I remember hearing that Boneyard uses a lot of different hops in their IPA recipes, like 6 or 7. The reason being hop contracts are competitive and they wanted to make sure they can produce a good IPA even if they get shut out of one hop. Has anyone else heard this or am I making it up?

ya seems it to vary in hop profile sometimes batch to batch but its always good. I wish craft brewers would tell the consumer when they change their hop profile like Notorious with Citra or Notorious with Mosaic. I have even asked brewers before, "Hey, this batch taste different?" And they say, "Ya we had to change up the hops in this batch." And I am thinking, I wish you would have told me that before so I know exactly what i'm drinking!!! Some brewers tell and some don't, but that is craft beer for ya.

I haven't heard this but I would not be surprised if it was true. Sounds like good business sense. And we as consumers get to try a lot of tasty IPAs

They have Simcoe, Chinook, Citra, and Centennial in play in other beers. Bear Flavored states per the brewer there are 7 hop varietals in Notorious, but doesn't list any.

After Hop Venom and Notorious I almost found RPM to be boring.

And here I was thinking RPM was the best (or at the least, second best) beer I've ever had. Can't wait to try Notorious and Hop Venom.

Bailey's Taproom often displays the hops used in the beer they're serving. I believe for RPM they listed Bravo, Centennial, Chinook, Cascade, Columbus and Citra.

Question please...... Does Boneyard serve two different versions of Incredible Pulp?

The photo I posted is different from others I've seen where Incredible Pulp was described/displayed as one of the "Hazy NE" style beers resembling pulpy orange juice. I purchased two crowlers from The Growler Guys in Seattle. Curious if I received the wrong beer after paying approximately $20 for two crowlers of a specific style.

BTW: Very tasty beer, but definitely not the mouth feel/consistency of the style I was seeking (ie Julius, Juice Jr., etc).

    Thanks for any input.

I've never had nor seen a hazy Incredible Pulp. It's just their blood orange IPA.

Just checked Untappd. There are two recent pictures of IP that look like juice, whereas the other 99% are of the IP I've had before. Not sure what's with those, it's supposed to be their Grapefruit Sculpin type beer, not juice.

I had Incredible Pulp a few weeks ago - from Growler Guys Seattle, if I remember correctly - and it was tasty, but it wasn't hazy.

More confusing for me was my recent purchase of Cloudburst Menehune. After reading the descriptions and reviews, I thought it would be a tropical crowd-pleaser (cloud-pleaser?) for a party that night and ordered two crowlers from the Kirkland Flatstick, but the guy at the counter was savvy and asked if I wanted a taste before investing in two crowlers, as it came off as spicier than tropical, at least in comparison to his expectations. I took him up on it, and sure enough, he was right. It was a good beer, but surprisingly spicy, and I only went with a single crowler of it.

Thanks @distantmantra. I was gonna post a side by side photo, but couldn't get it to work. There are images and descriptions associated with Incredible Pulp showing that style.

Again, maybe a pointless question because the beer is damn good regardless. I guess it shows that throwing in oats, lactose, or whatever the secret recipe entails, doesn't make certain beers better or worse.

Check my edit. I found two pics of IP on Untappd that were hazy from one place in Southern Oregon. The rest are all clear.

Also, Iike Menehune, but I also love guava more than 99.999% of the population. Guava isn't always sweet, it's often musky and bitter, which is what Menehune is.
