For you folks asking about ticket price - $200 = entry to #DLD16, 4 btls of '16 Dark Lord, 1 BA Dark Lord, and $40 of food & drink vouchers

 

I would've appreciated this last year.

Also my rumor to add to the fray is that with everyone getting a variant maybe they are going to significantly lower the attendance.

 

Sticker shock has me goin "omfg", but the value is there.

I'll have to think a bit about whether or not I'm willing to take the $200 gut punch between now and the 5th.

Variants will be released closer to the event. Bottles will be available on a first come first served basis. Though you may not receive your #1 choice, there will be enough variants for everyone.

I'm envisioning massive amounts of line cutting & other assorted line tomfoolery if the variants are truly 1st come, 1st served. I thought in prior years each group had an allotment of each variant and if true, folks are going to be doing their best to ensure they are at the front of their group so they can get the pick of the litter i.e., what the ISO folks are clamoring for. I hope they go with a lotto ticket approach here.

 

I would guess (hope?) they've got more barrels filled this year vs LY for variants. Expansion and all.....

 

Yeah, there's an almost 100% chance that trying to get the most popular variant(s) is going to be a clusterfuck. As it is though, getting something guaranteed is still pretty cool. Is there any reason to hope they're still doing grouping (A, B, etc.)? Otherwise you're pretty much SOL if you get there after....10, probably.

Jaycase - I don't think each group has an alottment of each variant. I was one of the first 10 people in group C last year and BVDL and bourbon cherry were sold out

Website has the details on the schedule. There are 5 groups, A-E, every 2 hours from 10:30-8:30.

 

Just find a way to get a "doctor's note" for a wheelchair.

What's the scene there like that late (besides ridiculous drunkenness)? Lines okay? I've never made it past 5 pm.

 

Last two years it cleared out fast later in the day - meaning after 5 or 6...though weather played a big part

 

Can anyone verify that the totes are made from woven vanilla beans?

 

To get pours from the guest taps in the past, has it worked on some sort of ticket system where you buy tickets and then "pay" for the beer using a ticket?

 

No; cash in hand. $5 for normal stuff, $10 for foil-rarez.
