One day many years ago, when @LeperJim and I were wee lads, he turned to me and said "Dickie (that's what he called me back in the day) I can envision a future for craft beer. And one of the many great breweries will be one called Dogfish Head. I am going to create a day to celebrate this fine brewery, and I am going to make a poster announcing this great day using @WesMantooth's Aunt Helen as my model." I thought Jimmie (as I called him then) was a bit daft, but I said "I will certainly look forward to such a day."
    And here it is!

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday!

Still loving this stuff, I guess so many people hate it that it still remains on the shelf; so I keep buying it. Flavors of huge rum, pineapple, grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pine, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, toasted oak, and light vanilla. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness and rum/oak spice; with a balanced sticky/resinous and creamy/silky medium-full bodied mouthfeel. Light-moderate warmth of rum barrel alcohol, with minimal booziness. Very smooth sipping. It's definitely a rum bomb, but still provides a nice balance of the pineapple and citrusy hop flavors and bitterness. Definitely mellowing out now after 3 months, but still a rum monster of a beer.

Fantastic red IPA! Flavors of huge mango, melon, peach, pineapple, berry, passion fruit, papaya, tangerine, grapefruit, lemon/orange zest, light pepper, and pine hops; with moderate sweet malts of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted biscuit; with herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/rind/spicy bitterness; with a nice balanced finish of sticky/resinous hop and creamy/bready malt character in the mouthfeel. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness. Huge and juicy on hops, especially in the aromas; with a sizable malty backbone that is not overly sweet or heavy at all. Really awesome blend of Mosaic and citrusy Amarillo/Cascade hop character. Definitely going to keep buying more while it’s still out there. Loved the new Imperial Coffee Stout too.

My choice for Dogfish Day. This is awesome as usual. Flavors of big caramel, brown sugar, peat smoke, brown bread, nuttiness, toasted oak, vanilla, maple, raisin, fig, date, juniper berry, and pepper/clove yeast spice. Light-moderate herbal bitterness and spicy yeast finish; with an awesome balance of malt sweetness and yeast/oak character with zero cloying sweetness. Medium-full bodied creamy mouthfeel and a touch slick/syrupy. I bought 6 of these, and I am glad I did. This will age gracefully.

Cellar grab 2014 KBS. Incredible as usual. Big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, bourbon, and toasted oak; with some light raisin/fig fruits. Light carbonation, with a full bodied creamy/silky mouthfeel. Lightly warming, and super smooth sipping. I love it fresh or aged.

    Cheers!

New Moonsorrow Album in April, really looking forward to it. 5 years between albums is not how I like things to be; but they have been doing it that way.

Me too! And for anyone who has grown tired of my my backyard, next month Mrs. Zombies and I start a 5 month road trip across the country in our RV, so hopefully lots of new beer photo locations.

Oh how could forget that day back in 1889 when we invented the term Dogfish and the birth of craft beer! I remember you said something about the "internet" too and I called you a bad name. Too bad we didn't follow through on that. You went on to become the youngest country doctor and open a practice with Dr. Quinn and I got shipped off to an island called Helen. So I've been to Helen back. And now here we are.

Thanks @LeperJim and @WesMantooth! I love these theme days, especially when I can participate in them as much as possible. I will have 3 or 4 different DFHs (depending on what the trip to the beer store nets me) to use today as an excuse to drink, including one I'm excited about thanks to the ads in BA magazine, Beer to Drink Music To (how is that drinking, @BeerVikingSailor?).

This one is also new to me. WOW is it tasty. I can't believe it rates so low here, but maybe I don't drink enough English Strongs, if it isn't a good example of the style.

We have Dog Fish, so how about some Phish Dog?

Happy DFHDW, BAs! And Aunt HelenMantooth, it's gonna be 55 degrees in Chicago today, so your current outfit will certainly be enough to keep you warm should you find yourself in the area. I'll even save some beer for you (just the Dogfish-that Pliny while I'm grilling steaks is ALL MINE!)
