Per popular request, the new Grimm thread. Last one was 69 pages and frankly too long. Grimm has arrived (big time) and deserves their own monthly thread.

For info directly from their website

Post away and yes, Joe and Lauren (the Grimm's) monitor this thread and are great about responding to your questions and comments. Especially, if you tag them.

Any update on the Fantome collab? Per the instagram account, it has already landed in the US as of a few days ago. Will this be released alongside Afterimage and Vacay? Or alongside the new hoppy farmhouse? Thanks @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales for keeping us in the loop!

What day do I need to take off work in the next couple weeks to chase the next release around the city?

It's cool to have @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales here to see questions! Do you have plan to can Tesseract in the near future? Missed out on the last run and really want to try it. Thanks!

As far as I can tell, Afterimage will be the next canned IPA released. I would be surprised if we didn't see Tesseract again in the next few months, though.

@Grimm_Artisanal_Ales would you mind starting off this new month/thread with some updates on what to expect in the coming days?

Afterimage is definitely the next canned IPA, Grimm mentioned in the previous thread. It drops sometime in the middle of the month along with a sour called Vacay.

From yesterday (posted on last month's thread) by the Grimm's:

Afterimage is already in the tank down at Beltway, along with a dry hopped sour called Vacay. Today/tomorrow at Flagship we're working on a hoppy farmhouse ale that is yet to be named. Buncha Azacca.

We hope to ship Vacay and Afterimage on monday March 14th so that they can hit shelves by Wednesday March 16th. The hoppy farmhouse might be ready the week of the 21st. None of these dates are solid yet though.

Can we have 2 Grimm threads? This one, where people can ask questions and discuss their beers, and then another thread where everyone can bitch about not getting cans, having to chase it down, why they don't see the hype, etc., etc.? :stuck_out_tongue:

@NiceBeerCans thanks for tagging us, we might have missed this thread otherwise.

Fantome Grimm is stateside for sure. We don't know for sure when it will be available for sale -- it's entirely up to Shelton Brothers and Remarkable Liquids who distribute Fantome. It has a very classic Fantome character, with big rose hip flavors (tart apple/earthy/vitamin c kinda vibe).

Don't hold us to it but we hope to ship the next beers march 14 which means they might make it to the shelves march 16.

We are planning to do Tesseract cans in April.

Afterimage DIPA - all the good hops - mid March, cans/draft
Vacay dry hopped sour - new zealand and neo-german fruity hop varietals and white oak - mid March, bottles/draft
Liquid Crystal - hop forward american farmhouse ale spotlighting Azacca - late march, draft only

@Grimm_Artisanal_Ales 2 bottles of mbdn purchased from li had that green apple smell. In my opinion, its not oxidation at all. I tried to back sweeten a stout with maple after adding (not enough) campden tablets and the beer took on the exact same overbearing smell/taste. My stout wasn't oxodized at all, it's just whats happens when you ferment maple syrup.

A combo of potassium metabisulfate and postssium sorbate has solved my problems on recent batches if you want to add syrup again.

Regular DN is easily my favorite of the variants, and it retailing for between $10-$12 on the last release was even better. I'm pretty upset I didn't stockpile more bottles.

Was about to say the same thing! Just bought 2 at Key Food way up on 18th and Broadway. $14.99 each. It might seem of the beaten path, but it's not a bad neighborhood (I used to live there!). Looks like there are at least 6 left.

Anyone see my post on WBAYDN?

Opened my first MBADN today, and I DEFINITELY got the apple on the nose. I mean it's blatant and overt, and very strange when staring at all that black.

Didn't taste like apple though; I got the maple and the bourbon. As far as I'm concerned, the treatment of this beer really mellowed out the base stout.

    Very pleasant.

Is it safe to say that the green apple smell is just going to get worse from here on out as the beer oxidizes more? I have a few bottles left and I'm guessing I should drink them ASAP. FWIW, I didn't get any green apple the first time I had it.

Just had mine. No green apple - all maple and chocolate. It was great. Grimm does not make a bad beer.

The green apple smell (which carried over to the taste) was overbearing. I have not had a bad beer by Grimm...prior to this. I am not sure why this happened, but I am disappointed to say the least (ended up a drain pour). I was REALLY looking forward to this brew. Oh well. Time to get back up, brush the dirt off, and go hunt down Afterimage.
