$30 a bottle>? I might have to bring a straw and wait around for someone to break a bottle to get my first true taste of these amazing sours..

Ha. I love the OMG Whalez Bro! section more now that it's a bit.
Found a BC Barleywine last weekend. Took a chance and it was awesome. And it was priced the same as everyplace else had it Black Friday.

That's because they probably already called it in and got their refund haha

Went to buy some Cascade sours, saw the $30 price tag, and quickly decided my money is better spent on 8 cans of Todd*!

*Do not tell me how much Saga I could have purchased.

When put into the context that I could go online and buy 3F oude gueuze for like $12 shipped to my door from fucking Belgium it makes no sense to buy $30 American lambic turds.

More places need to take a page from De Garde and charge a fair price for their stuff. Is water that much cheaper in Oregon?

Definitely agree with this. Bought about 12 bottles of dg for what would have gotten me 3 cascades. Sorry cascade, but your beers probably will sit in our state too.

At the risk of committing sacrilege, I'd rather have the Cascade than 3F Oude Geueze. My palate, so unrefined.

This is the "Bottle Hunt" thread. Please take these questions to the "Can Hunt" thread.

I'm not super familiar with Cascade so I can't argue there. I know that 3F OG is pretty damn good though, to me. You can typically order Kriek from BiaB as well for less than $30 if fruit is more your style.

I guess the water isn't it. Why would it cost Cascade triple the amount that it costs De Garde to make beer? Is de garde that much bigger where they get wholesaler discounts? I mean, I hear fruit thrown around as an expense but de garde makes plenty of fruity beers. It can't be barrel cost because practically everything DG makes is BA. Time in barrels makes no sense since DG releases 3 year aged blends for $12-15.

Is it just me or is it more likely that Cascade just wants to profit $10+ per bottle rather than sell it at a reasonable price?

While I agree Cascade is very very expensive, Sang Noir is a world-class sour that is fruited and bourbon and wine-barrel aged, so people shelling out $25+ for the latest mediocre BA stout probably don't have much of a leg to stand on complaining about these beers. Especially when six months to a year ago we were all lamenting the lack of good sours on the shelves in MN.

Great find! The 2014 BC Coffee is still my best snag from there. That or 2013 Darkness.
