Completely agree. I know that DIPA's are expensive to make but whoa! Well at least LBC's growler pricing model sure seems to be in alignment with the definition of "Hubris". Personally, the only way I can even remotely justify paying that kind of money is to buy a single growler once or twice a year and share it with some very good friends of ours who like the beer. It all usually comes out in the proverbial wash in the end as we've been very fortunate to have tried some very hard to come by and delicious beer, thanks to them.

On that note... nuff said from me on the whole topic.

Had Hubris last night and it was good as ever.

I think it's as good or better than the last batch. But it's all preference, every batch they've done of it has tasted a little bit different.

Sounds like there's going to be barely any bottled compared to last time. They had one of those mobile services come in and do a bunch of bottles last time and you could find it all over town for a couple weeks after it dropped. This time they're just hand-bottling a little to hook up the bottle shops who have supported them since they aren't getting any kegs. So any bottles out there will likely go pretty quickly.

Pretty solid list from the OP, though I have yet to try the Burial IPA offering or Hubris and DDS. All on the list are worthy. Hop Drop is the go to and the new offering from Highland is quite tasty. A couple adds include Birdsong's Higher Ground and the Unknown's Over The Edge (with an edge to Higher Ground).

Is it just me? There are times when I am drinking Highlands new IPA, $7.99 at Teeter last week, and thinking this is the best "grocery store" beer on our state's shelves.

Batch I am drinking now was brewed a few weeks ago, somewhere around the 9th or 10th if I remember. After a nice 15min warm-up, my thoughts were, "holy fuck this is good". I feel if it had another brewery's name on it, it would be rated up there with Two Hearted, Stone IPA, Sucks, etc. Add in the bold brewed on date (Looking at you Lagunitas), < $10 price tag, and availability, we have ourselves a winner.

It's a great value, and certainly a contender as far as readily available sub-$10 6-packs go.

I would easily take fresh Sucks, though, and I think that's the best value IPA, maybe in the country.

I do wish Highland would start canning. Like a lot of people, my preferences for light, hoppy beers these days is to drink them from a can.

They're starting to can this year. Although for me it's going in a glass regardless, so no need.

As @lateralusbeer mentioned, they will be canning this year. The first two canned beers will be a classic pilsner coming in May, and Mandarina IPA, arriving in July.

Didn't know they were gonna can but that is big for a lot of people. Hope they can the full lineup eventually. We have a pool and obviously no bottles in the pool but I also prefer to only have cans on the deck as well. Too many times the dogs are knocking crap over and bottles go tumbling toward the concrete and pool and try to give me a heart attack.

From what I've been told they will be canning aggressively for the remainder of 2016. Expect to see a lot of can offerings from Highland.

So I assume that means they're gonna put the new regular IPA in cans too? That could be a game-changer for me, especially if they're 12 oz.

Wooden Robot what he's having is probably the best new IPA coming out of NC. Pernicious and Jade are my other two favorites

HA! Figures. I was there last week looking for it and missed it by 2-days. Then a week later it drops again.

I had DDS earlier this week and really enjoyed it as a top tier IPA in NC. I was glad to see it on draft in CLT

Why make one of those when you can bank just as much selling hop drop all day? The truth is, most people in NC haven't had treehouse, and are just looking for a super citra IPA with a sweet malt backbone, because that is what they like/know. I'm sure plenty of people would disagree with that statement, but that is my take on it.

I add just a little milk to my hop drop to help give it that hazy look that's so hot right now.
