Let's predict future beer styles - not Trends! but styles.

Feel free to go in dept with ingredients, flavors, techniques, and names.

Be as snarky or as serious as you desire, I'm sure we can have fun with this.

    My example: American Hoppy Lager

I could see this beer coalescing into its own distinctive style, using a pilsner like malt base with aggressive American aroma hops. It already exists somewhat, with various German style Pilsners, Imperial Pilsners, American Pale Lagers, etc. already experimenting with this. The number of "hoppy lagers" seems to rise each year, so in my example I "predict" they'll eventually earn their own entry.

Belgian Imperial Lambic Stouts. Not sure how it would work but I think 50% pure lambic blended with a Belgian yeast stout with a high alcohol content. Like a sour and boozy chocolate covered cherry.

"American Hoppy Lager". That style already exists and it is called an IPL (India Pale Lager). Jack's Abby has been producing many varieties of this type of beer for years with a popular brand being Hoponius Lager. I had a draft pint of this beer last week while on a ski vacation in New York and it is a very tasty beer.

    Cheers!

Right, but there are many types of this beer called by various other styles. I really hope the style doesn't end up using "India" in the name, as it makes no sense at this point to keep dragging that word along.

Jack, that is not an "American Hoppy Lager," it is a "Wicked Hoppy Lager." The differences are enormous but unexplainable.

You have been pretty consistent in expressing your view on the "India" matter. I suppose you could feel free to continue your 'mission' but it will not change things.

A few months ago Yuengling introduced a new beer and on the label it prominently displays "IPL". I feel confident that you will see more beers using this label.

    Cheers!

I just assumed it was a New England thing. Like the popular New England expression of "Wicked Hard Core"' which is pronounced as Wicked Haad Coa.

Which of those three will be murky in appearance!?!:astonished:

Oh, let me guess: East Coast Canadian IPA since it borders New England!!

    Cheers!

You forgot to include Third Coast Canadian IPA. I'm certain that the region between Kuujjuarapik and Thunder Bay will rock out some Mosaic beauts. That's right, Kuujjuarapik.

We've already seen black pilsners and dark saisons. The singularity is reached, and destroyed.

That would be the "Wicked Canadian IPA."
