Still baffles me when Houston people stand in line for hours for beer like this when it is readily available even in Tom Thumbs that don't really stock decent craft..

Tons of people have told me that it is the best one yet and it is very well done. I am still skeptical as I have never had a smoked beer that I could get through 2 sips.. I picked up a bomber just to try it.

I don't understand some of you. It's a delicious beer, and a unique one at that. And doesn't take much effort to find. There will be several tappings this week around town. Check out our website for locations. It's also available at the brewery. Most of your comments remind me of what my buddy @Beernerds says "#nolimitnothanks". Go enjoy some good beer, and discuss.

@awinkro don't take my comment the wrong way. I have beer that is flooding out of both my back fridges and I have a trail of boxes with beer in it that I have to walk thru to get to my computer. My pass was based on I didn't know the style, but since I have read these postings and see there is some smoke lingering in that bottle, I going to find it this evening and add it to my collection of boxes in my office. I just have to find somewhere to draw a line.

Some people might be on the fence. Others are just amused by the hype and consumer behavior. Nothing to take personally or get upset over.

Personally I don't think anyone was reacting like this but I guess people read things differently when there is no face to face with expressions.. I didn't read anything that I saw that anyone would be upset over.

I think it is exactly like @donspublic said. Most people don't know the style and when they hear smoke it can be taken negatively as most people either have not had or may not like smoked beers. It is a love it or hate it flavor in my experience.

But seeing people say they love it and I have not heard one negative review made me go pick up a bomber.

Also I think people are tired of seeing the Houston Hoarder people react where they line up hours before a store opens for a beer that we all knew ahead of time will be readily available weeks after release.

Houston hoarders are nothing but a bunch of punks.

Had my first lsat night and really enjoyed it. First example of the style I've had, so no basis of comparison, but found it very enjoyable. I thought I had read previously that the smoke was subtle, but I found it to be very prominent...in a good way. Not overpowering and very balanced. I cracked one with dinner last night and enjoyed it over the course of almost an hour. Only bought a sixer at first, but if I see more I will definitely pick it up.

I really enjoyed the smokiness. Was also sad to see they went so quickly at my closest beer store. They had bombers for $11, 6 packs for $14, and singles for $2.75. Not quite sure who figured out that pricing strategy, but I passed on the bomber and went for 2 singles. Will grab one or two more as trade extras if I find them around.

Liking this beer, got a 6 pack tonite, chilled one and a drinking it now. Smoke becomes more prominent as it warms. I think without the sweetness going on the smoke would be somewhat harsher, more like the Grodziskie (which I love)

I will be in Houston during the latter part of next week. Is this likely to be on tap at the brewery at that time?

I'd bet a dollar on it. Probably some around town as well.

I also enjoyed my first one. The smoke was subdued according to my taste buds...a beautiful looking beer with a nice mix of dried fruit, fig and subtle smoke. Glad I have more to enjoy now and a few to pop in the cellar. Good job, St. Arnold.

I recommend this beer cold, The fruit shines better when it's cold and the smokiness is more subdued. The smoke really comes out as it warms, this is a really good beer. Good job SA

This thread proves my point, Houston hoarders do not exist anymore, because we don't have to. Too many good choices available on a monthly basis to load up on a single beer release. Houston has reached a normality that other big cities have seen for sometime. Sure we go nuts for GI Rare but that's the norm now days. The business cat with the cool yellow tie, chucky cheese sunglasses, and tricked out Chevy pickup full of pumpkinator has left town.

I'm assuming this is where my experience differed so much from what I've seen others saying. I started at 50-ish degrees considering it was a 10% beer and drank it fairly slowly. I thought the smoke was overwhelming to start with and the beer eventually was pretty terrible in the last 3rd. I wrote my review about halfway through. Will definitely update that when I have the 2nd straight out of the fridge.

Jeez, that bomber price is a little high. I'm pretty sure my Whole Foods had it at $7.49 per bomber.

I was at HEB in Cypress (Tuckerton and Fry) and there were 3 more cases of sixers and 2 more cases of bombers. 14.99 for sixer and 7.49 for bomber.
