Barrel-Aged Fridays

Had a 2013 Goose Island Cthulhu tonight. Tasty.

 

I like the concept, why not drink something a little extra special on Friday? This is really nice.

 

Haven't been a big fan of hangar 24 so I've passed this up several time. Pleasantly surprised compared to all other offerings I've had from them. Big time bourbon, super roasty. Delicious. Picked up 2 bottles, gonna age the second. Think it'd be better after it mellows out a bit.

 

Finally broke down and bought one of those 2012 bottles of Cuvee Delphine that keep sitting around.

Opened this bad boy tonight. So far I am glad I signed for the Alpha Hop Society! Can't wait to crack open the other two. Cheers!

Finishing the night off with this. It's nice, though I think I preferred the Cuvee Delphine.

 

What can I say? I had high hopes for this one and was disappointed. Taste was very muted. Odd green pepper/stale coffee/almost moldy smell as I opened and it never got much better. Some oak and vanilla but everything I loved about the regular was either absent or near non existent. Hopefully an off bottle.

 

Had a 2013 Duclaw Retribution last night. Fantastic. Couldn't believe how coffee and bourbon forward it was after three years.

 

Had a bottle of the latest version of this: Excellent..especially as it warms towards 50 degrees or so.

 

Had a bottle of the 2016 version of Clown Shoes Luchador En Fuego. A bit less barrel than I prefer but very nice and recommended!

 

Had dragon's milk reserve vanilla chai and eclipse Elijah Craig 12 on Friday. Both very good, but the eclipse really stood out - smooth, silky with great flavor.

Last Friday was Revolution Deth's Tar, must buy more of that stuff SO great! then Revolution Ryeway to Heaven, damn that is a great beer, glad i snagged one, then CW BA BW, very good, and we ended on a non-BA, Christmas Bomb which was also great, BA Bomb is amazing!

On deck for today is New Holland's Dragon Milk Vanilla Chai and Toasted Chillies.

 

Was on a little field trip in Wisconsin today and stopped at The Malt Shoppe in Wauwatosa and they had Sexy Betty #3 on tap. Wow, aged in 50 year old Cognac Barrels. Now that's sexy!

 

I drink beer on Friday morning's at work as a part of my job as a craft beer sales rep. Hey, we have to taste the competition so we know what we're up against!

Kinda tastes like Christmas...

 

I didn't hate the flavor either despite clearly getting all types of weird tartness. Couldn't drink a whole bottle but didn't mind about 5 ounces.
