Happy Saturday BAs! The two year old woke me at three AM, but at least she had enough kindness to fall back asleep and let me fall back asleep on the couch (me for a few hours, she's still sleeping). I think it's time to hang out with a baby who operates on my schedule.

Too early for me to play with the record players here (we have three different ones), but I will participate eventually today. Here's something that I listened to a couple of times yesterday.

Been up myself since 4AM, binge watching new House of Cards. Dranking on this Six Point offering, outta a Croat coffee cup, picked up on my travels years ago (before kids). Want to return to the motherland, but waiting for them to open some cool new breweries first. Given that it's the land that brought us the necktie and ballpoint pen, they're sure to amaze us eventually. Saturday morning cheers.

A little fruit juice and some heat this morning considering this to be my nightcap since I've been up all evening. Thanks to work, then fallout. But thats what Saturdays off are for! Plus some college hoops later on when I awake from slumber. Duke UNC game should be a good one.

First time trying this, actually wasn't repulsed! Think everything meshes well to be honest, I like the heat, once it warmed up a tad it got a bit borderline cloying.

    Cheers BA.

I just love a hot dog for breakfast!
And this stout from Foolproof Brewing Company goes well with it.
    Here's to Saturday!

Good morning BA, have a great Saturday! Looking forward to the warming weather coming up this next week for sure. I haven't biked outside in quite some time, and I hope to do so before April rolls around. Mountain bike trails won't be good enough for a while though, but gravel will still do the trick. Beer this morning:

Always excellent! Big rich flavors of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toasted dark bread, caramel, toffee, molasses, and light smoke/charred maltiness; with some herbal/spicy hops and hints of dark fruits. Bittersweet balanced finish; with a creamy/silky medium bodied mouthfeel; with some light hop/roast malt stickiness. Highly complex and extremely delicious. There is honestly probably not a Bells beer I wouldn't drink. I usually buy the seasonals every single year. Haven't got any Java stout just yet though.

I thought this was excellent stuff. Flavors of big juicy pineapples; with hop flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, mango, lemon/orange peel, and pine; with light-moderate honey/bready malt and floral/grassy hop earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness; smooth and crisp finish; moderately sticky/resinous mouthfeel. Good dryness on finish with zero hop or fruit astringency. While I wouldn't put this over Regular, Grapefruit, or even Habanero; this was still highly impressive across the board. Great balance of the pineapple puree and classic Sculpin hop character; with good hop vibrancy. Will definitely be getting more while it's still around.

Outstanding brown ale as always. Big robust flavors of caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, toffee, toasted oats, brown bread, chocolate, light nuttiness, and light-moderate bourbon/oak notes. Light herbal hop bitterness and oak/bourbon spiciness on the finish balances the malt sweetness perfectly. Awesome all around balance and complexity of malt/barrel flavors. Nice medium-full bodied creamy/silky mouthfeel. Glad they released more recently, very easy to buy right now, I keep throwing these in mix 6 packs I make a lot. Fantastic beer. Looking forward to the next batch of No Rules, hoping to find 12 ounce bottles this time.

2013 vintage, still lingering on the shelf around here. I grabbed this off a clearance rack last weekend, there were still a ton left too. Still tasting outstanding! Intense flavors of grapefruit, orange peel, raisin, plum, fig, date, pine, caramel, brown sugar, toasted brown bread, and toffee; with some nice floral/grassy hop earthiness. Moderate pine/grassy bitterness; fairly full bodied with a balanced creamy/silky and sticky hop mouthfeel. I will definitely grab more of this next time I see it. This is an extremely impressive American barleywine. Really well balanced between hop, dark fruit, and malt sweetness; along with the bitterness. Highly complex flavors. Very smooth and easy sipper. I love it.

    Cheers, have a great day!

EMBA's flowing already...good morning to you all!

Pounding rain throughout the night, general (lack of) sleep patterns and my partner below who wanted to prance and pee in the rain (as did I...)...so covert ops engaged in this fine early morn (three slumbering princesses upstairs, you know)

the day to come should be interesting, especially as tomorrow I depart for a four day work excursion to San Francisco

let's keep it quiet, this early hour...

Cheers EMBA's...all BA's...now and to come!

Good Saturday morning, BA's. The '16 Curmudgeon will hit the shelves soon and I'm cleaning out the older bottles in my fridge to make room. This '14 is still drinking great. The booziness has mellowed but the molasses hasn't. Yum!

Addendum to above two year old story: after she woke from the morning couch nap, I was reading my Rolling Stone Bowie Tribute magazine, and since she didn't want to be left out, she had two of my Beer Advocate magazines. Somewhere about ten pages into issue one, she looks at me and asks "Daddy, you like beer?" When I replied yes, she looked back at the magazine and said "Me too."
They grows up so fast these days....

Awesome reviews, as always!! Looking closely at the pic of the Victory Old Horizontal , I can see a faint reflection of you bending sideways and peeking into the viewfinder of what looks like possibly a decent camera. Super nice shot!!

Thanks! It's a Nikon D5100, definitely one of the best budget DSLR when I bought 3 years ago. Still making lists as a top camera even today too.

Happy Vinyl Saturday, BA's....and thanks to @PatrickCT and crew for hosting another fun WBAYDN day!!

My beer choice was an obvious one - kind of digging this DFH new brew.....

I have a 40+ year old stereo system I bought when I was a teen, nice Panasonic old school set up....pulled out some of my favorite and most influential albums from my youth, and will be playing them all day today.....
Back in the day, my hometown Akron was considered on the "forefront" of a new "new age punk" movement, with lots of bands playing all over around here.....Stiff Records in the UK put out an "Akron Compilation" record with scenes from my town and even a scratch 'n sniff tire (you know, Akron was the Rubber Capital of the World!) on the cover.....very cool! Devo came out of that movement, among other lesser known bands....Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders as well (she is from Akron).....spin them discs and drink well today, peeps!

Some of the albums I will be playing today.....classics!!

I even have a letter from Stiff Records in the UK, as I wrote to them about this Akron Compilation record, and they sent me some cool swag (from 1978!)
