I'm so embarrassed that the US has spawned this aberration

I'm so ashamed that a brewery has to resort to this level of gimmicky idiocy just to get you to notice their beer. Too bad they couldn't focus on making a quality product that could stand in its own...

    The dumbing down continues...

They should be in the cereals section, not between Founders and Rogue! :grimacing:

I, personally, will miss traditional European beer labels which simply state what the beer is - no need for stupid names and ridiculous label art work needed.

There is one review for this beer on BA:

“Pours opaque near black with a thick beige head that settles as a thin film on top and leaves spots of lace. The smell is mostly roasted malt with a hint of spice and a subtle vague fruit aroma. The taste is of roasted malt with cocoa and coffee notes. I'm not picking up any apple, cinnamon or breakfast cereal flavors. This is a solid milk stout that can stand on its own. The gimmicky addition of breakfast cereal adds nothing to the base beer.”

Based upon the review above this sounds like a beer I would enjoy drinking.

    Cheers!

That's hilarious, especially since the juvenile packing plays up the apple, cinnamon and breakfast cereal flavors...

It's like eating coffee ice cream that is a great ice cream but doesn't taste like coffee

You are embarrassed for the whole country? All 323 million Americans? Awe, thanks Germany! That's sweet of you. Please enlighten us, we New Worlders haven't figured out stuff yet.

Hey, you have fucking fish on your head. You know that?

Pretty sure that's James Maynard Keenan of Tool / Perfect Circle / Puscifier. If he wants a fish on his head, he can have a fucking fish on his head. He's earned it. If it ain't Maynard, he has a twin. As for representing Germany, my first thought was that @-N8 was perhaps an Airman or Soldier stationed in Germany. Maybe not.

As for the beer - shocked that it isn't an Against the Grain product....

*Edit - the response from @-N8 came while I was typing.....wasn't trying to pile on...

*Edit 2.0 - @charlzm cool link, also solves the Maynard question...it's a twin!

The craft beer industry in the US is becoming more and more competitive in the US every single day. More and more craft breweries opening up every single day. AB purchasing craft breweries and expanding their distribution of those beers nationwide (e.g., Goose Island Brewery beers), Lagunitas selling out to Heineken, Victory and Southern Tier recently getting bought out by a Private Equity Firm (ABV), etc.

I am personally not a fan of gimmicky packaging and marketing but I do understand why some craft breweries might feel compelled to think outside the box to maintain/increase sales.

I recently saw posts from @Lurchus concerning dry hopped Zwickel and dry hopped Helles beers in Germany: http://www.beeradvocate.com/communi...future-beer-styles.391836/page-6#post-4576040

This is a Brave New Beer World we live in now. Both in the US and non-US.

    Cheers!

Schlafly still has simple labels on their beer. That's one of the things I respect about them. They let the beer speak for it's self.

Pretty much all of their beers look just like this, but instead of Pale Ale it might say Oatmeal Stout, or Golden Ale.... etc...
