Damn, I lined up in North Gate last year around 9:30 and didnt get in until at least 10:30 or 11:00. I was group B though, so it wasn't as big of a deal, but with Group A you would for sure be in the back of the Dark Lord pick up line.

Bet that one of the variants will be the Malort one... Hope this year the weather is not crap. Still had a good time last year. Ended up with Group C, better than nothing.

That map with the comments is spot on correct and funny as shit! We had group C tickets last year and stood in the south line. By the time we got there at 7AM, we were standing right about the "D" in discarded bottles. Ended up under the big tent with the huge crowd.

Pretty sure my boots became unrecoverable right around 11 o'clock in "Puddle" area

Yeah...... I just happened to be pulling in and saw the line. Figured must be something good so I joined the crowd. Was lucky to score the Portuguese Brandy. Was in line for about 1.5hrs. I remember feeling like I got a sunburn on my neck. Boy was the next days weather different. It's almost like DLD has a dark cloud over it haha.

First timer for DLD here. Just wondering what time i should try to get to the festival to get in within the first and hour and if the parking is impossible so to bank on finding a shuttle or something?

Get there an 1-2 hours before, if you are willing to pay $20-30 for parking you can find it in the industrial park at that time no problem.

You got yourselves a first time poster and a first time DLD'er as well. Going to be heading out there solo from Austin. I'll make sure to do you guys proud and bring some central Texas favorites and make myself some new friends over the weekend. I also opted for the Jaks Tap shuttle since I'll be staying in Chicago. Glad I stumbled upon this thread because Im going to try to be prepared as much as I can for the unpredictable weather, but once again watch it be 65f and sunny all weekend......

They did release 2014 Darklord early the week before. 3pm on a Friday before DLD they will only have Yum Yum and Robert the Bruce. Everything else gone.

If you don't know the area parking can be next to impossible. I think the Town of Munster charged $20 for parking in Centennial Park (east side of Calumet Ave).

You can enter at either gate, last year they made it sound like A had to enter thru the north gate. But we went Southgate and had no problem.

I'm confused by everyone driving to dark lord day. How does anyone stay sober enough to drive afterwards. From the generous pours from strangers to bottles brought and whats on draft? Either everyones designated driver is a true hero who should probably be applauded upon entrance or a bunch of people are going to be stupid and drive drunk.

I bring this up only because everyone has been talking about parking as if they can knock a few back, stay sober for an hour and be fine. The majority of these beers available are well over 10%

DLD runs from 10 am - 10 pm. I like to imbibe as much as the next guy but I'm not going to be pounding barrel-aged beers for 12+ hours straight, especially if I'm going to be driving.

Actually, maybe that means I actually don't like to imbibe as much as the next guy, particularly at DLD. So disregard.

Drops $400+ on beer, too cheap for a room for him and the wife.

EVERY thread you comment in, you just run you're mouth like a douche and have nothing to offer but rude, ignorant remarks. Maybe you should just try keeping quiet until you actually have some input that's helpful/worthwhile. Cheers.

    Some of us actually have

    1) self-control.
    2) a solid tolerance from years of actually "drinking" our beers, not hoarding them in a closet.
