Is anyone driving from CHICAGO tonight and have room for a rideshare?

 

Pumped to be going. I have a room at the Marriott Waterside and would be glad to let anyone use it who needs a "home base".

 

Well, FOMO is officially setting in big time. Huna Day is one of my favorite days every year, but I decided to pass on both Huna and Cycle BA day this year due to finances and bad timing (holidays and El Cat signups happening all about the same time). I am kicking myself now and will definitely not make this mistake next year. Who needs to eat anyway?

Uber banned in FL...... Wow. Out of all weekends...

 

Hi all....little bit of help

So my bro was the one able to buy both our tickets/wrist bands....because he's on his game (sarcasm) he has totally forgotten which wrist band is registered to who (him or I).....he's driving in to Huna and I'll be there on friday and uber'n to Huna next day...

Anyway to find out which wristband is registered to who?

I'd really hate to be there on time with the wrong wristband.

Go to Hunahpusday.com as stated on the red card.
When you verify the wristbands online, if it bounces, do the other one.

 

just says "already registered" but doesn't detail to who...

This is incorrect. The issue is that there was a bill that passed the FL House (HB 509) that would require additional insurance for Uber/Lyft drivers while they were "working" and prevent local governments from banning or regulating the app based companies (like what happened previously when Broward County banned uber). The house bill passed with nearly unanimous support but the Senate bill was going to require significantly more insurance and some other additional restrictions. Uber also accused the president of the FL senate of not letting the bill come to be voted on. Ultimately, the sponsor of the Senate bill pulled it because thereally was no compromise that could be worked out between the parties as well as the FL House to get a working solution. So, really nothing changes from the current status quo. Meaning that Uber and Lyft can still operate in areas in Florida unregulated until/unless a local government passes ordinances banning or regulating them. Not exactly sure what happens to Broward County (which I believe was the only FL county to out right ban them) because I believe they had gotten a temporary stay while then FL legislature was working on the issue.

TL;DR...Government is inefficient and convoluted but you can still Uber or Lyft to and from Huna Day

 

Also...Jerry Ulm Dodge Chrysler Jeep (a local Tampa dealership) is a sponsor of Hunahpu Day and is partnering with Uber to provide a "pre-determined number" of complimentary rides for intoxicated event attendees.

The above is "fact" and I've also heard (completely hearsay, not actually evidence) that they've planned to have an "Uber Outpost" in downtown this weekend to handle the additional demand (remember it is also Gasparilla Music Festival too)... and that the "predetermined number" sponsored by Jerry Ulm Dodge is $2k. So that, if true, would be a significant number of rides

 

I will be thankful for uber. That's for sure. Not wanting to drive much anywhere.

For those who have loaded the Huna Day app to their iPhone, be sure to ensure to update the app! Looks like they pushed out an update today (and the HunaDay.com site suggestion to do so Sat AM makes a lot of sense too so you have stuff cached).
