    The only Alabama beer I've had was Southern Magnolia's Pecan Brown Ale. Honestly it was pretty bad. No head retention and little flavor.

    Good People El Gordo is my favorite, but it's not very easy to find and I think is done for the year. Cab barrel Laika is also way up there. Snake Handler is the popular IPA choice, but I think I prefer Blue Pants Weedy's or StA Monkey's Uncle personally. Good People Hitchhiker is currently in season and is a pretty solid IPA.

    Haven't tried all of them, mostly Birmingham area. There is a surprising number of breweries and beers in the state to those unaware. My go to are Good People Brewery's Pale Ale or Bearded Lady American Wheat Ale. Not my style but people cheer their Snake Handler DIPA. Avondale's Spring Street Saison is tasty if not the best saison I've had. Recently tried & really like Trim Tab's Pillar to Post Rye Brown. The Huntsville breweries I'm not as familiar with but Straight to Ale gets very good reviews. In Birmingham stop by Hop City to get a wide variety of beers to go or on tap to sample or have 1 or 2 while shopping. ( I don't work there, just a shopper ). I had a pint of Fairhope Brewing's Duke ( a sour golden ale ) there that was to my liking.

    I'm going to an Alabama football game in the fall. Kind of expecting a weekend of Bud Lite etc. Is there anything in the Tuscaloosa area that I should be on the lookout for?

    All I've had is Monkeynaut, and I thought that was pretty good. Nice can too. Looking forward to getting some more when in Knoxville in May. How is Gorillanaut?

    Friggin' Fairhope has a brewery? Wow.

    I grew up in Pensacola and am having a hard time imagining a brewery in Fairhope.

    Good to hear they're doing it right, too.

    Black Warrior Brewing(Black IPA&Old Tavern Scotch Ale), Druid City (Lamplighter IPA), and Band of Brothers(Voodoo Mild).

    I was not aware Alabama made beer. I thought they only produce massive amounts of Roll Damn Tide.
