It's easy to do the math but there are some beers that only come in the bomber.

depends what i'm in the mood for..most BA stuff comes in bombers..so if i want a BA beer..it'll probably be that..if not..then 12oz or 16oz cans/bottles are fine

I don't mind the price of bombers for limited releases.

But why buy one if the same beer is available in a sixer?

There is no doubt that bombers/big bottles are priced higher per unit that smaller bottles on most occasions in most stores.

    The real question is "why?"

It would seem to me that production costs would be slightly less expensive with the use of big bottles. So, are bomber prices inflated exclusively because custom has made this practice appear acceptable or is there something else to it?

In my experience the same beer in a lager bottle has always been less costly per ounce.

Some really are when you think about it but the trade off is you get a larger size of a beer you are only going to have once.

I'd rather spend $8 on a bomber of it and not like it, than have a $12 6 pack that I only drink one from. I like large formats, as they give me the opportunity to try something new, without amassing too much of it. The only SN Pale Ale I've had was from a large format option. I just tacked it on to the end of my haul for the week to try something new, without buying several containers of it.

All that said, while I buy a bomber about once a week or so, I'd buy a lot more of the same beers if I could get them in individual 12oz bottles/cans.

Simple math=A lot of beers I enjoy only come in bombers. I want to drink it, I buy the bomber.

I hate bombers but there are to many great beers only in bombers, so sometimes it's a necessary evil.

I spent an evening in a bar in Brussels a long time ago engaged in a heated discussion of whether Chimay was better in the 330 ml bottles or the 750 ml bottled. We put the issue to an empirical test and we were thorough enough to where I forgot the result.

Is it not well-known at this point that you pay a bit more per ounce but spending less overall?

Ruination is $7/bomber, but double that for a sixer. But maybe I want some Ruination without dropping $15.

This is almost certainly not the case. Assuming an $11 six-pack price, a bomber would have to be $3.36 or less in order to be a better value per ounce. I have never seen a bomber that cheap. It's possible to be cheaper in a special case here or there, but bomber are almost always more expensive per ounce.

I like big bombers and I cannot lie.
I'm mostly a ticker. I often don't want 3 or 5 more of something. I realize 750 ml bottles involve a few pours, but I'm fairly picky about which big bottles I buy.

I went beer hunting yesterday and bought several $36 6pks....in the form of $12 750s. I feel so dirty.

Bombers are a pretty good deal compared to buying beer by the glass at a bar.

Probably a good idea to avoid anything called Life Hacker.
