I'm curious how many of my fellow BAs are in the same situation that I am. I am a sufferer of Brewery Proximity Obligation. I live about four miles from Russian River Brewing. My brother, brother-in-law (and my wife's sister), and my father all live in Arizona and are all in to craft beer. The wife and I travel there at least once a year and I am, at this point, totally obliged to bring at least a case of PTE with me each time.

I'm kidding about the obligation part. I don't mind one bit, but I'm curious about how many of you are in the same boat?

Southwest is instrumental in my trips to AZ as well!

I guilt my family into bringing beer when they visit. No one in my family drinks craft beer but my mom grabs me Russian River a couple of days before they come visit and also hits every release of Rare Barrel. Meanwhile my sister gets me fresh La Cumbre when she comes to town. I would be lying if I did not say I guilt them into doing this for me! So I am sure they feel obligated.

No. No one cares about Seattle breweries but us folks in Seattle.

My cousin who lives out West is a wine-head (and knows her stuff), she also has a spot on the web, I haven't seen her in a long time and would love to meet up so she can school me on wine and hopefully likewise. Otherwise, most of the family lives local and they're not craft drinkers, the rest that live out of the area aren't craft drinkers either. Craft beer drinking with no obligations - yay, ME! :stuck_out_tongue:

*Side note* .... Available for adoption: As I sit here in my pathetic T-Shirt on the opposite coast living vicariously through you and your family.

No for 2 reasons...I really don't travel anywhere, and the brewery near my place makes overwhelmingly mediocre beers

Ugh you must have to go like 3 days in a row to Proc to build up enough to share, damn 72 oz limit law! *Shakes fist in the air*

No problem here since nothing brewed in NJ is sought after.:stuck_out_tongue:

I live less than 5 miles from 3 breweries in Cincinnati, two of them are among the worst. The other is pretty decent, but focus on doing weird brews. That being said, I do enjoy their beers, but their taproom is really small.

The three best in the city, in my opinion are all under 10 miles from my house and I pass one on my way home from work.

Regardless, I'm in a pretty good situation. I don't feel obligated to go to the two nearest me, as I don't love their product.

I've never travelled anywhere and brought beer from New Brunswick. I suppose I would if somebody asked but then again, I don't think N.B. beer is sought after :stuck_out_tongue:

Wisconsin here. I'm basically not welcome in any other state unless I bring a supply of Spotted Cow.

Please send me several bottles of Midnight Still. I will do my very best to spread the goodword of Seattle through bottle sharing!

Nah, not so cult-ish here in Colorado (that I can tell); though I have obligations to myself (auto-erotic beerification) when I travel to NM and have to beer-mule certain labels that don't get to us here in CO (Bosque, Marble).

When I'm not near the beer I love then I love the beer I'm near.
