I always like to hit all local stuff wherever I'm at, that's the exciting part to me. But since I'm from Pittsburgh out distro footprint is pretty ugly. That being said I'm looking forward to getting stuff I would never see out here in Pittsburgh. Def like this idea especially since like you said I'll be heading through PDX on my way to San Fransisco. And a plane ticket to Seattle is significantly cheaper. My only worry is not spending enough time in PDX. So many good breweries there.

Thing is, a lot of the stuff you're probably looking for will be equally available in WA, OR, and CA. So, if it's stuff to ship home, buy it in OR where there's no sales tax. If it's for drinking while here, well that's a different thing.

The Commons releases Clarabelle this weekend. Dang it, Oregon! Hellshire, Block 15 release, and Clarabelle release on the same day. It's a real pain in the ass being a beer geek in this state, I tell ya!

I was lucky to get a preview pour at the Good Problems release in January, at it was awesome. Hoping it lasts past Saturday, but I'm not getting my hopes up. More info here: http://brewpublic.com/beer-releases/the-commons-brewery-releases-clarabelle/

And $8 a bottle? Out of control awesomeness. Spent a good amount of time in PDX and OR, and I highly doubt there's anywhere in the country with more reasonable pricing for good beer. So awesome and kudos.

Had a bottle a couple days ago, and it is damn good. We also have a keg going on tap a week from today for our anniversary, so if you miss out on bottles you can come have a glass or two.

I will be visiting in May, this thread has been very helpful!

Random question, but is there much Bourbon County available? I know, coming into a Visiting Portland thread and bringing up a Goose Island beer is not the best, but I have a friend who specifically wants it and I rarely get down to the US!

If you scour the grocery stores and whatnot on the fringes of the city you might find some, but I doubt there's any bottles left at any place mentioned in this thread.

I saw yesterday the Upper Lip tweeted that the coffee version is back in stock. Are they now selling it as a sour? :astonished:

Sour is a generous description. probably closer to rotting corpse covered in yogurt.

popped a bottle a few weeks ago and it was one of the worst things I have ever tasted

I'll admit I was was worried about the list being nothing but sours and stouts, but it did end up being fairly diverse. Someone probably should have picked Heater Allen Pils or something like that just to provide a lighter lager option, but oh well.

 That was Dave, our hardcore punk band drummer turned mild mannered beer geek father.

Will that delightful lineup stay on for Friday? I'd like to swing by when it's less slammed.
