Y'all've seen the weighted-ratings-based Beer Rankings that I put on HBG every quarter.

    This quarter I added a "March Madness"-style bracket: http://houstonbeerguide.com/houston-beer-bracket-2016/

There's more to this than just the fun of bracketology. It also gives an opportunity for the more active members of the beer community to have a say, rather than having all the ratings/rankings driven by multitudinous pseudo-anonymous users of a certain yellow app.

Go vote! And then come back here and discuss the matchups, cuz some of them are absurd.

Voted  Seems Elda M was included twice, but oh well. All imperial stouts for the one seed is completely predictable, and a little disappointing. I guess not much different than the regular tournament. A shame City Porter was matched up with Bishop's Barrel 10 cause both are great. BB 10 is drinking other worldly right now though. Fun thread and bracket.

One is Elda, one is BA Elda. Two different beers, and the BA one is ranked much higher than the non-BA one.

It might have done well to have 4 different style brackets or something like that.... of course there might not be enough of some styles to complete a sixteen beer bracket.

    IPA's and Pale Ale's
    Barrel Aged
    Stouts and Porters
    Miscellaneous

Something like that.. so then you have IPA against IPA to start.

I agree with Ford that it would have been nice to have the 4 different style brackets but still this a fun exercise. Thanks Nathan for putting this together!

anyone want to discuss Rodeo Clown winning against Black Meddle?

    Round Two is live!

And yes, I'm dismayed Rodeo Clown beat Black Meddle. Black Meddle is easily my least favorite Brash beer, but RC... not for me.

But that said, Karbach has a lot more fans and their retweet flipped the script on that one.

To further add to that conundrum, it is currently beating Vulgar Display of Power

Yeah y'all need to get people to vote in this round. Rodeo Clown over VDoP and Chocolate BBH over BB12 are both absurd, and based only on the fact that Karbach has a lot of people voting.

Rodeo Clown is definitely the team with 5 small white dudes that somehow keeps winning over MUCH better competition (that beer is awful). The Karbach supporters are stronger than I estimated.

ya say? In 6 of the final 8 games. If it beats DR15 I know something is up. Final game Rodeo Clown vs Yellow Rose......Rodeo Clown for the win. ISO on BA go wild looking for cans of Rodeo Clown

no Brash in the 16 now that's a tragedy.

If Rodeo Clown wins again.. next year you need to eliminate it from the bracket. So many better beers out there that could be included like Spindle Tap ESB Honey Hole, Galveston Brewing Double Citra, etc..

@bleeng your talking real life here, not internet polling . It has yet to match up against a Karbach product. Karbach has lost 3 games
2 seasonals Krunkin & Yule Shoot.. along with Trigave going against Rocket Fuel. Never discount the Homer

BB12 just isn't what a lot of people in Houston want... I loved BB2 so I was happy when BB12 came out.. but the peoplez like their bourbon or whiskey aged beers.. not that fancy wine aged stuff... that is too fancy pants for most..?
