My thoughts exactly.....where you at jesskiddin?! or should i say, where you @jesskidden?!

I did a few google searches but my results were futile. a blind guess would be early 70s. Hope i'm right :grinning:

It looks like the 1980's to me. Had a lot of this in graduate school! This bottle looks very familiar.

    I'm going to guess 1998.

Seems as though I remember this bottle from my college days.

I definitely wouldn't put money on it, but the bar code makes me think it's newer than the 70s as an earlier poster said.

I'm not in the mood to google when bar codes became a regular thing.

There are some beers I would like to try at 30 years old. Guinness is not one of them. Had a Kasteel dark ale the other day only 5 years old and it was already 25% solid.

I remember this label. It is old. As you know by now because you drank it.

I'd say mid/late-80s? UPC Bar Code - so no older than late 1970s (?) but no Health Warning - mandatory in the US after 1989.

I don't know the other specifics off-hand, but the another clue to pin it down would be when the import company changed it's name from "Guinness-Harp Import Co." (I think mid-80s). Also, in the early 80's there was a different green neck label and the importer info was on the front of the bottle.

There is some complicated formula using that red stamped code to find a bottling date, but eventually the date code dropped. US bottles of the era usually had the last two digits of the year of manufacture embossed on the base, but that is not always true of imported bottles.

Checked my files for some Guinness ads from the era:

Back then, at least in Europe there is no guesswork as to the date:
