    Howdy follow TX-BAs!

Two of my absolute favorite brews are 3 Floyd's Zombie Dust & Parish Brewing's Ghost in the Machine. They're both outstanding if you haven't tried them. One is a APA; the other is a DIPA. Both are exceptional.

If you HAVE tried them, can any of you recommend something sold here in our great state (preferably Houston area) that is close in taste to either of these??? A plus would be something that is easy to find in stores.

Also, kindly do not mention Yellow Rose. YR is great, but it doesn't hit like the two above mentioned brews.

ZD is terrible imo. It's been bad on 4 diff occasions I've had, and the last time, it actually tasted metallic/poisonous.
You'll want to look for Hops and Grain a Pale Mosaic...

Ghost is world class and you will find nothing close to it here.

On THIS website, only 3 beers made in texas are as well reviewed as ZD and GITM. What answer are you expecting? Aint no secret new ipa factories around

Realistically, Pale Mosaic from hops and grain in austin is as close as you will get to the new dry hopped low malt IPA/pale ale craze. Will certainly meet the hype it doesnt have

I am at a lost here, have had both, and last month had Heady and had Pliny over the weekend when I was in CA. I am hard pressed. Going thru my reviews here are some I found pretty good, but not quite there

Suruga Bay Imperial IPA - Baird: from japan but Whole Foods in Champions has it
Grace & Grit - Great Raft: sorry Louisiana only, just thought I would throw it out there
    Myrcenary - Odells
    ***** Wagon - Brash
    Double Jack - Firestone Walker
    Maharaja - Avery
    Hoppy Birthday - Alpine

Have not had Zombie Dust or Ghost in the Machine... but I did enjoy Avery's Raja if you can find it fresh. Drink from a glass and not the can as it made a significant difference in my opinion.

H&G Pale Mosaic is a regular in my fridge. Highly recommended if you can find it in Houston.

My two cents: ***** Wagon is an amazing DIPA. Double Jack is an amazing DIPA that gets passed over a lot, possibly because finding it fresh can be a challenge. One of my go-to IPA's is Union Jack, always surprised by how great that one is. Also, lots of people are loving Grunion right now.

Sorry that's only one local brewery.

I found 14 day old Grunion at my Total up in Plano this week. It is drinking great.

I had it last weekend. Solid beer if you like Mosaic hops. It's freaking delicious.

Firestone Walker seemingly doesn't get a lot of love in Texas, at least Austin. Solid brews but I'm starting to think it's just option paralysis.

The problem is that its hard to find their beers fresh down here. And when most of your beers are hop-forward....

I don't think anyone questions the quality and deliciousness of their beers. But their beers are often passed over b/c in the name of freshness.

I will admit, I remember having Double Jack before and wasn't that impressed, but I had it last weekend in California and was like wow, been passing this by..

If you can find fresh Grunion I think it tastes a lot like Zombie Dust. It's the best beer Ballast Point makes, IMHO.

Here is the best option Texas has for a ZD clone IMO,

Let's just hope it hits shelves before the hops fade.
