Hit a favorite antique German beer glass with the snowblower. Sad and a pain in the a@@ to clean up. Plenty where that came from though. Also, in all my vast pint shaker glass collection (don't buy them anymore) I had to break my Neptune Brewing Company one, a long defunct NY City brewery.

luckily I had two, but my buddy left my tree house anniversary glass on the stairs outside my apartment. Woke up in the morning, stepped out of my place and saw it on the ground broken in two. :slight_frown:

I took my 2014 Hunahpu Day glass with me camping in late 2014. I served me well the whole trip. When I got home, I was unpacking and forgot that I had wrapped in in a sock. I lifted the sock and *smash* out fell the glass. I was so bummed because I was proud that I hadn't broken it the entire trip.

Also, I've broken a total of 6 BCBS Black Friday snifters between 2013 and 2015. Damn things are so thin.

Well we lost an old glass recently although it wasn't a beer vessel but a cool glass. The deceased was a Waterford Millennium flute that was signed by the artist. We had a pair and SWMBO broke one. I teared up on that one as it was worth extreme sentimental and monetary values

One glass I barely used, a flute, I brought it to a family party for new years eve. I left the glass inside a soft cooler, there were kids running and playing around. Later that night I went to grab the glass, when I opened the cooler the glass was shattered... seems one of the kids bumped into the cooler while playing and didn't notice. Oh well...

My second broken glass was my favorite, an english pint, used it all the time. I was taking it to the sink to get it cleaned and on the way I bumped into something and it fell on the floor, million tiny pieces everywhere. I just stood there mad and silent for a few seconds. I still have not bought a replacement.

If this counts, my first growler from Hill Farmstead shattered on its own. It made it all the way home from VT to CT. I had it sitting on the counter with all my other beers from the trip. I was doing something on the other side of the kitchen when I heard a sharp crack sound. I looked over the beers but nothing seemed any different. I touched the handle of the HF growler and the thing split in half and spilled Abner all over the counter.

I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I think it broke from the internal pressure. I doubt the ride home helped much, but it had been sitting on the counter by itself for at least 5-10 minutes before it broke.

Luckily HF is awesome and responded to an email within 15 minutes saying that they had been having problems with the growler supplier and gave us a nice gift certificate to make up for it.

I'm a glass geek like everyone else and want to throw this one out there. This was a precious piece of beer stemware that unfortunately sustained a break in the stem. It's a vintage Pilsner glass from Germany which was gifted on a trip to Germany from good friends of our family who live there and unfortunately it suffered a break in the stem after it arrived home ...

... no way I was going to give up on this glass because of the age and sentimental value. I found a place who was able to repair the break so well that I have to hold it up to the light to even see the fault line - and still using this glass (10) years later. Very thankful! (And please believe me, I have no affiliations to this establishment.)_

When I first got into craft beer, a Bells tulip glass was one of my first glasses. It was my favorite glass and used it for most beers. It survived a lot. One time it fell off the counter and didn't even break. It made it through a couple of moves. Then, one day, as I was hand washing it in the sink, it slipped and fell in the sink. A few chunks broke off and that was that. I contacted Bells and they said they don't make it anymore.

Seriously, CAN'T keep a nonic/english tulip pint glass. Left Hand vs. cat; cat won. Samuel Smith vs. wife; wife won. Love my dimpled mug, the mason, the tulip BUT the shaker is a scab til the next nonic. Went back to the store I scored the Sam nonic but no luck. Sadness:slight_frown:

My wife complains as well & I'm on the low side compared to some, I may have a dozen tops. When she see's me spying glassware I just turn it around on her & ask why she has more than ONE purse. Not like I have 20 wallets:wink:

A few months ago I broke two champagne glasses we've had since we were married like 32 years ago. Broke one after another.

Once broke an entire rack of wine glasses at a restaurant i worked at. Probably cause of the wine we were drinking while cooking. My boss was an understanding Albanian man so he just screamed at me like no tomorrow and took some of my paycheck to pay for it. He could have fired me for underage drinking but like i said, east Europeans are very understanding of these situations

Got a cool teku glass from BierCab in Barcelona (where I went more than a few times while there) last summer. Kept that thing protected and safe through 4 more countries of travel and back home. Then my girlfriends friend was helping us unpack after moving about a month ago and broke it. Pretty annoying. I would have preferred that I at least was the one that broke it after all that but it is what it is.

This goes to a wine bottle, but I'll share anyways. I was in the middle of nowhere, camping. We were out of all the beer, only wine left, and no corkscrew. But we had vice grips and a big wood screw. So we drove the screw into the cork and used the vicegrips to pull the cork out. In this process we got the cork out, and broke the neck of the wine bottle in which the glass shards of course fell into the wine. So here we are, middle of nowhere, no more booze... except for broken glass wine. We cleaned out an old coffee filter and strained the wine through it to remove the glass. I'd like to confidently state the red wine with a distinct hint of coffee is far from awesome. But it did get us through our last night camping. We always get a good chuckle when it comes up. Cheers.

All these stories of significant others breaking their beer glasses reminds me of A Christmas Story and the lamp. Just saying....

4 glasses have broke in my career. Had a Palm snifter that I hand washed then my dad accidentally knocked of the counter. Had a Fullers ESB English pint glass that i rubbed too hard while washing. Had a pint glass with my companies name on it crack when I needed really hot water and my dumb ass put the pint with water in it on the electric stove to warm up and it exploded at the base.

The only other glass I broke was the only glass I have ever purchased. Was up at UMass for a Temple BBall game and we went to some bar and I bought a glass. Put it in my back pocket then ran to the car forgetting that it was in my pocket. It fell and shattered everywhere.

I have many broken glass stories, I am a klutz. My family, wife and 3 boys (all over 21) usually all walk by me and push my glass in from the edge of the table. They do it to piss me off, but it secretly makes me laugh. Sometimes I immediately move the glass so its overhanging the edge like that's where I want it.
I've also had many full spills of the last of a really good beer with no more in the house. Those are really sad moments.

I broke my favorite glass doing dishes... I went to put a dirty plate in the dishwasher and I ended up playing tennis. I accidentally served my snifter to the beer gods. Apparently, they were not amused.

I took a picture by the off chance that someone created this exact thread. Haha
