Schell's Noble Star - Apricot Vista

I picked up a bottle at the Westside Liquor in Waite Park this morning, when getting a wedding present for a friend (Bison Grass vodka). I'll pop it open sometime in the next week or 2.

 

Just stopped at a few placed and saw this around. It was nice not to hear about when it came in the door at each place. I think that is part of the reason it didn't get chased.
I'm in the EP/ SW metro area. Let me know if you're looking for it. I saw plenty at one of the places... plus a few other goodies at that same place.

 

I agree that it was nice to not have a minute by minute update of when a new beer release is hitting stores. I think a few people had good but not great reviews of Apricot Vista just before it came out so the truck chasers didn't feel it would be gold trade bait so they decided not to hoard it all. I propose the next big new release to post an early mediocre review to scare off the hoarders. Very refreshing bottle release!

 

Any sightings of this one in the Rochester area or suggestions for bottle shops down there in general? My better half is going to be down there all next week and I'm looking to score one for me and one for an upcoming trade.

 

Andy's, Apollo, or Hy-Vee Liquor are your best bet. I haven't been to a store in awhile, so I'm not sure if we have it yet. In the past it seems like we would get it a week or two after the metro.

Any sightings around Maple Grove recently?

 

Did the southeast metro get zeroed out on this one? None of my locals, even big ones like Boozemart, have received it to date, which seems odd.

 

We haven't seen it in Albertville area either, but I am told it is coming... but they can't give me a date. What is odd is Otsego saw it the Wednesday it started dropping in the Twin Cities.

 

For those on the west side that may of been shut out, Birch's on the Lake has an apricot Berliner on now that is good. Not as sour, and definitely not as funky as Schell's offerings (I did not get to try Apricot Vista).

 

Casanova's had a handful of bottles tonight. Limit 2, if I remember right. Hey! That rhymes!

 

I keep upping my rating on this beer. We have a place in town that did a Schell's beer dinner Monday and on Tuesdays they have 2fers all day. Needless to say, I went down after work and had 4, 10 oz pours. I don't want to get the hype train rolling, but give me my conductor hat. It's freakin great. Wooooooo, wooooo, all aboard.

 

For all of you looking forward to the next Schell's Berliner, Heritage liquor's newsletter today said that Tidal Disruption is "upcoming." I'm looking forward to this one personally! I really like the idea of blackberry sours.

To whomever has access to a Fleck distributor, for Eastern Iowa, tell them to MAX THE FUCK OUT on their allocations so we actually see some it it. It WILL get bought up if there is caution it wouldn't sell.

Yeah, it's perplexing we got cyprus blanc shipped twice but no peach and very little apricot

 

We got a lot of Blanc in central Iowa too. It's still real tasty, but too pricey for me to help clear the shelves. I figured it had to do with the timing of Glazer's sale of their beer portfolio though there definitely is more of the beer than any of the previous releases.

 

I don't understand the WI distro on these either. Full series through Cypress Blanc. Since then... none.

 

From what I've heard from my Schell's distributor these last two have been extremely allocated. Perhaps, there just wasn't enough to satisfy all of Schell's markets.

 

Apricot Vista hit the Madison area. My brother-in-law had asked me to pick him up a bottle or two, but then texted me late last week that he was able to get one.
