...what job would you find most interesting or most like to attempt? I'm sure those around here who do actually work in the industry would attest to what a grueling, demanding profession beer can be (though I'm sure ultimately quite rewarding), but for the rest of us - what would be your ideal beer industry job?

Me: I'd love to own and operate my own bottle shop - the perfect combination of beer knowledge/styles/history, business sense, and being your own boss.

I don't think I'd do it realistically, but lately I thought of opening a craft beer bar/sports bar. I'd open it here in Franklin, MA as downtown is getting an update and there is minimal local competition on the strong craft side or as a sports bar. I'd only do it if I could strike deals with HF, Lawsons, Trillium, Treehouse, Foley Bros, Fiddlehead, Night Shift and others to ensure that I'd have a steady crowd as a craft "destination".

Many craft beer bars are otherwise boring, so the sports bare element would bring in other folks and introduce them to the world of world class beer. Too often sports fans have to sacrifice the beer to be at a good spot to watch games. I'd be aiming to change that.

I have no idea what I would be qualified to do. Maybe run a small bottle shop or tap room? Medical secretary doesnt offer much business experience.

Doubt the missus would let me, but I'd be happy being the guy who keeps the shelves stocked at a bottle shop and chucks those past their Best By date onto the 50 cent closeout table. Bet I'd be popular!

If you have to work, working with beer and most importantly beer people is not the worst thing.
But it isn't a get rich quick scheme either.

That said, fixing and installing draft systems comes with many perks. For example, the system must be tested frequently for a few days. Very frequently. And the good will that accompanies being a draft beer hero usually does not go unrewarded. Wish it would pay more though...

Brewing? Thought about it. But who wants to cook the same meal every day for a decade?
    Cheers.

There's the rub. There are a lot of beer-knowledgeable people on here, including myself, who could obtain jobs in numerous beer-related positions. Working at a brewery or somewhere else in the beer industry would be a lot more "fun" than what I do, but almost none of those jobs are able to compensate me the way that I am compensated for my other talents.

I'm a very experienced marketer and would really enjoy running my own branding/marketing agency for new craft breweries - connecting them to graphic designers, helping them get their message out, learning how to create a brand that is more than just "hey it's beer, new beer." I'd help them build a web and social presence, probably canvas the hell out of BA and Reddit... I mean, help them get their voice heard.

If I thought it would pay well enough, tour guide. That could apply to the CO front range, the Munich metro area, and probably Bamberg, too.

I know what job I would NOT want...anything to do with dealing with the public. Been there, done that. Had enough.
Whatever job in the beer industry that doesn't involve contact with the public would be an ideal job for me.

Brewer, or at least taster, or maybe outside collaborator where I would travel to other breweries and make beer with people and drink their beer. That would be a good one...
