Just tapped Frightened. I'm a fan. For my money, probably the third best DIPA they've done behind Fading Beauty and See The Light.

A bit sweeter/more prominent malt backbone than some previous DIPAs, but really nice Citra character.

Manor Hill Hidden Hopyard is legit as well. Quite hazy and juicy.

Today's Meridian Pint taplist is an embarrassment of riches when it comes to local hops. RAR's releases from dank day, Hidden Hopyard, Double Duckpin, ADM III...

I was trying to hold off on beer until the weekend, but i'm not gonna make it.

Replaced Double Duckpin with Ocelot Frightened. But your point remains! Manor Hill Citra Splendor as well.

That sounds great--I loved See the Light, thought it was damn near perfect. Also glad there's a little more malt--Ocelot's IPAs have been getting almost a little too lean for me, like they were on a mission to remove all traces of malt. Not an issue with Talking Backwards though--that was damn near perfect as well.

There's a couple gems there. But generally speaking, Meridian has the superior draft list at the moment. That will change soon!

Soooo a rosemary and vanilla IPA from Aslin? I think I'll wait and see what others say about this. Rosemary?

Orange Whip is a great IPA. Has been for a long time. Was maybe the first beer in this area to use Citra.

Unfortunately, DC does not permit bars or "on-premise" locations to sell beer to go.

It does, however, let retail places sell growlers to go. Crazy laws.

I saw a number of people getting crowlers of this one. If you like vanilla/rosemary IPA's, this was very well done. The base beer is solid. A lot of vanilla in the nose (almost an orange creamsicle vibe) and taste for me. Fun to try once.

Not sold on Hidden Hopyard. Looks the part, but being opaque in a glass doesn't make it taste any better. Nothing wrong with it, but it makes me think Union would sell a lot more Double Duckpin if they clouded it up with some wheat flour.

For my money, Hill Farmstead is still making the best hoppy beers in the game, and they don't look like chicken broth. I have nothing against turbid IPAs, but only if it adds something to the experience. The oats+London ale yeast combo adds a great mouthfeel to Tired Hands beers, Trillium dry hops so much you feel like you're dumping them in the tank yourself. The haze is a symptom, not the diagnosis.

You could call it an adjunct ipa because of the use of lactose and oats. Or you could call it an oat ipa or you could...

What does it matter how he specifies the style? We know which beer he's talking about. Why do you have to put a label on everything baby?

It was just funny because he said "if you like vanilla rosemary ipas", as if that's something anyone has ever had before.

Not interested in that rosemary/vanilla IPA. They have another IPA out Friday.
