Bomb has been starting to sit around here lately as well.

I still think its a lovely beer, but in this new age of ticks i rarely come back to something, especially at 10-12 bucks a bottle.

Id assume this version is a different base stout recipe or like someone said different coffee. Extra vanilla? Cant be the same beer with a different label and name.

Pirate Bomb is BY FAR the best variant I've had (all but Fred's Blend)

I agree that Christmas bomb was nothing special.. But Brimstone, Fred's blend, BA bomb were great. Pirate bomb is one of my favorite beers out there. Hell with y'all - I'll buy it if you won't..

Regular is $7 around here, and Pirate was $10, and even if BA taste has moved on, I'll be that chump paying whatever they want for them at every release. I'd also respectfully disagree that taste differences are subtle.

Birthday Bomb will have a higher ABV and Caramel added to the adjunct list.

Not kidding. Info from the Brewer.

That being said. Not sure I've ever had caramel in a beer. So I'm curious to say the least.

Have yet to try any of these and continue to have zero FOMO.
My wallet won't let me with all the other great substitutes at considerably lower prices...

Big fan of the most recent release of BA Bomb! But I'm also a huge fan of regular Bomb! so no surprise there I guess.

What is the substitute for bomb? I respect that you don't want to splurge on this very expensive beer, but there really isn't much (anything?)else like it that I've found, especially that's readily available.

I've got some in the fridge now, and I really like it, but to me it doesn't have the body or flavor profile of bomb. It's good, but also 5% abv lower, thinner, and with sharper spice flavors.

Maybe there's extra vanilla so it tastes like cake?

Check out the Sierra Nevada Chocolate Chili Stout when it comes out. It's not Bomb! But it's damn good. I'd imagine a decent price point as well.

Yea curious to know the answer to this as well. Bomb is pretty unique, and while it's expensive, I've yet to have a cheaper stout that compares.

Agree with this 100%. Xocoveza is good, but is way too thin and unsubtle to approach Bomb. There's just not a substitute that's as readily available.

I don't disagree with you either of you. I think it's the closest readily available beer

I'd buy the b-day Bomb if I saw it, but would much rather see Pirate Bomb in these parts:slight_smile:
