Taking Crap for Liking Goose Island

    OK, I ordered a Goose Island trucker cap the other day and took a selfie wearing it after it was delivered. Since I posted it, some of my beer geek friends have been throwing a lot of shade my way for buying a hat from a brewery that sold out, for still enjoying a number of their beers, etc. And I'll come out and say it: I still think the brewery produces some quality beers - BCS series, obviously, and of course their Belgian series, but even some of their regular offerings are really solid.

    Point being (aside from venting a bit at how close-minded I feel some people are when it comes to Goose): I can't be alone in this viewpoint, right? I mean, we can agree that GI still makes some pretty solid beers? Sure, the whole 312 joint isn't that stellar (easily my least favorite), but I'd argue Honkers is a really nice interpretation of an English Bitter - a style you don't see many breweries doing - and Goose IPA is a solid English-style IPA. Plus, with the recent addition of Four Star Pils and Green Line Pale, I think you have a core brand of widely available beers that rivals someone like New Belgium.

    Am I crazy on this?

    No. Nothing wrong with that specifically. Stop taking selfies wearing trucker hats though.

    Yeah I don't think its the brewery, I think its the buying a trucker hat and taking a selfie that got your balls busted.

    Little mention of the hat/selfie though, and more mention of my lackluster taste in quality beer.

    That aside: Yes, I fell victim to selfie culture like a starving man jumping on a Christmas ham.

    Nope, they are being good friends by busting you chops. To answer your question, yes, Goose Island brews good beer in spite of being owned by AB.

    Tighten up that trucker hat, grab a Honkers, and started tossing the shade back. Throw heaps of shade right back on their laps. Next time you see them throw sunglasses at them. Window blinds. Hit em with one of those pop up trade show tents ya see at farmer's markets. Just grab anything that can be used to provide shade and start whipping it in their direction. Then take a selfie and post that shit, #sunshineonmyface

    I agree with that statement. The Goose Island beer that I purchase the most is Sophie.
