I am 99% sure it is Sinister Vertigo. Definitely not Chocolade.

Your beers are fine, these people are crazy. Except Morningwood, that shit was bad and you made it right with replacements.

Well, it'll be nice to stroll in to Odd Side on Black Friday this year at my leisure and get my Hipster with no problems or waiting. :astonished:

Another crazy here I guess. Hipster Brunch, Beer stored at 55 degrees and definitely has developed a tartness. :-( Similar but not the same level as am wood. My bbmm is great though.

Regardless of my opinion on this, I appreciate that Odd Side has made a statement on their position.

Opinion: hipster was 700 cases at $100/case retail and brewery only. Offer full credit (not refund) to brewery for returned bottles. The percent of returned bottles will be relatively small. Profit margin already built into the beer. Of the $70,000 retail price of total sold, the realized cost to Odd Side would be maybe 30%. For a brewery that is starting to distro to several more states, that is not make or break.

I don't know why a brewery (or breweries in general) can't stand by their product. If a customer is not happy with a product, many companies in other industries give refunds, credits, exchanges, something to their customer. Here it's just a "tough shit". Based on the absolution post above it might behoove this brewery to explicitly state on their labels (if they happen to brew this beer or any BA stout for that matter) in the future to "Drink Fresh".

Cracked one open finally. Definite off putting metallic taste as it warms it becomes worse. I'm about to dump it. I've still got a whole case unfortunately. I buy some of pretty much every Oddside release but I can't in good conscience do that going forward if this is their official response. It's basically a big FU to the customer.

I will be in MKE 3 or 4 times in the next few months. I will trade you my Hipster, slightly under $4$ on NG shelf. 18 bottles of Hipster for 6 NG fruits. Deal?

    Edit: 5 NG Fruits?

I agree with this - I can't think of another industry where the business would have a response such as this. I don't doubt that some people are overreacting and/or experiencing confirmation bias, but this customer service just seems off.

Hipster. I poured it out and grabbed a Hazels which is fine.

I think credit for unopened bottles is probably a pretty good idea. Then the brewery isn't having to shell out cash on hand and requiring unopened bottles will theoretically help keep returns to only those people who have directly experienced issues. Case in point: I'm not returning my bottles, because I haven't experienced any issues with the ones I have opened.

Edit/sidebar: is metallic flavor a common profile for infected beers? Most of the stuff I've found online suggest that metallic flavors come from other factors, like the ingredients used, parts of the brewing process and/or oxidation...

My BBIMM was garbage. Hipster and Hazels were fine.

Guys, think we are flogging a dead horse at this point. Maybe we should let this die. I've accepted that I'm eating $$$ because of this, doesn't seem like anything we say will make a difference. Vote with your wallet.

I've often noticed metallic flavor in older coffee beers after the prominent coffee flavors have faded.

I should clarify that the metallic taste moved into tartness. Not even 4 months from the release.

Kinda bummed out reading this.. I have almost a whole case of Hipster sitting in my cellar right now. I'll crack one today and update you with my findings.

Hopefully Hazels won't be the next casualty...
