To make way for Stone Smoked Porter 2.0?

They're probably going to do like a smoked barleywine/wheatwine instead. Or a smoked IPA or something. That'd be interesting.

I'm a bit sad that Stone keeps doing this to beers I love and have continued to purchase over the years.

Imagine if AB Inbev decided to retire Bud Light to make way for mass production of BCBS. :stuck_out_tongue:

It has become a subtle beer (compared to Stone's later offerings) as the craft scene has evolved around it in the past 20 years. I wonder if this includes the vanilla bean and chipotle versions as well?

Sad to see it go one of the few smoked malt beers I truly enjoyed. The vanilla smoked porter being my favorite incarnation.

Disappointing to see this. I loved, and continue to love that beer. I don't purchase it often enough, but it may need to be bought soon.

Haven't bought that one in a long time (I guess therein lies the problem) but it was a very solid beer. Kinda sad to watch Stone's original lineup slowly dissipate but oh well, it's not like they've stopped putting out fantastic beer.

Dammit, I never got to try the variants. Will need to revisit the OG.

No original Ruination, no Levitation, and now Smoked Porter. Personally, I find this very sad as these were three of my favorite Stone beers and regulars in my fridge.

The market for smoked beers seems to be waning at the moment; I know very few newer BAs with much interest in even trying smoked beers. It's a shame, but I'm hopeful the pendulum swings back at some point. I'll miss this one, especially the vanilla variant.

I'll be heading out to buy a few bottles tomorrow. LOVE this beer.

Just found out a few days ago that Weyerbacher discontinued Heresy, the first BBA stout I ever had and one of my faves. I had two bottles earlier this year with no idea they would be my last two ever.

This is just terrible... I think I better go have a beer!

Sad to see this go. I'm an unapologetic Stone fan, but I'm disappointed. I love this beer and the variants and I've bought a couple each as the season changes. I hope there's some fill in that'll make this easier. Stone knows what they're doing and I trust them to make this work.

Yeah, I heard about that a while ago and snagged the last 4 pack at one of my local stops when I saw it.
I think the decision was made, because they retired the base beer, Old Heathen as well.
