Last night had some family over and shared New Glarus Wisconsin Belgian Red, was devoured and loved by all (though I preferred Raspberry Tart). Split BBA Plead the 5th too, far superior to the base beer but not the best thing in history as mulder seems to think...what a twit.

2015 Hunahpu - Stunning. Motor oil pour, dark brown lingering creamy head. Nose of chocolate, bitter roasted coffee, cinnamon, vanilla, fudge brownies, prunes soaked in alcohol, bit of cardboard, empty red wine barrel. Taste follows nose almost perfectly, bit of oxidation present and less of the spices. Stupidly drinkable for 11%.

Wouldn't have thought I'd enjoy this more than Black Note. I'm amazed how it doesn't taste at all artificial, just gorgeous.

 

No, got a single bottle in a trade late December. Barny's bottles are 2016 too, whereas mine is 2015. Besides, I'm not that much of a hypocrite!

 

Apparently quite a number of the recent Dark Lords sold before they hit shelves. Most of the Lambic Barny's bring in sell out fairly quickly too.

 

It's all about the hype and/or rarity, enhances the flavour

Gets me thinking....what if Barny's brought in a bottle of one of the Toppling Goliath stouts? Seeing as KBBS has sold for $1500 on the secondary market overseas, would they charge $3k?

EDIT: Seems $1400 was the max value it sold at.
