With the start of baseball season, Budweiser, in recent years, distributes limited edition cans for a short window as the season gets underway. I see they changed can color to red this year and couldn't resist picking up a case yesterday - even tho I'm a Mets fan. Anyone else see the cans in their distro? Any other marketing gimmicks get ur attention for beer purchase? Like most, beer quality rules my decision making but my passion for baseball draws me in…..
Bud did this for the NFL/Super Bowl with a commemorative can for each Super bowl. Miller did some local Chicago Bears cans that were, I will admit, very cool - I picked up a case to take to a friend's party. And no, no marketing gimmick could get me to 1) buy Budweiser and/or 2) buy something with the yankees logo on it. If I wanted a Phillies/MLB logo on my beer, Id use beer cozies.
A true Met fan would never buy anything with a Yankees logo unless he needs something for target practice !
Sweetwater put the Braves logo on some of their 12 packs last season. Din't convinced me to buy them but I saw some people caring about it so I guess it worked.
Haven't seen any cans yet, but found out yesterday Green Bench Brewery is brewing 2-seam Blonde exclusively for Tropicana.
Last year, or the year before, I saw some Iron City beers with Steelers and Pirates logos In 1993 for the Colorado Rockies inaugural season, Coors Light came out with a bottle shaped like a baseball bat...I still have an empty one
I love the Pirates Iron City Can, it's gorsh dorn fantastic. I'm just not a big fan of Iron City or IC Light. So if you ever see me drinking it you can bet i only bought the damn thing because of the can art. I admit it, and if i had any sense of pride or self worth, i'd hang my head in shame. Sports!
Last year Heavy Seas partnered with Cal Ripken's foundation to make this beer. A portion of the proceeds went to the foundation. Very cool to drink while taking in an O's game at Camden Yards!
Surly had a Brew available only at Target Field home of MN Twins called Bandwagon a couple of years ago.
