I don't work for, nor have I ever worked for OSA. I haven't been compensated for any bottles, other than the Morningwood that they did recall and replace because it was "off" immediately. I have spoken to a few employees there about this, in person, though. I am simply an OSA supporter who also has cellared bottles of all 5 of the BA stouts. I've been tasting, comparing & sharing my feedback with them, as well.
Do I wish they would say more than they have? Sure.
Do I think they will say more. No
Do I understand their position and why they've said what they said? Yes.

The thing that bothers me is there is so much speculation and rumors, it's ridiculous. I wish they could address them all, but, again, I don't think they will, and I understand why.
    Cheers y'all!

Way too many good beers out there to have to worry about this. I will either drain pour $70-$100 worth of beer (meant for me and some trading partners) or trade it .50 on the dollar. Thanks Odd Side. I get why they don't want to say anything too, it's called money. They won't be getting anymore of mine.

If these issues continue in the future and they don't say continue to respond as they have in this thread, I'm not sure they will be able to continue. I'm not on the fanboy side or hater side of them - I have had beers of theirs I really like and others I didn't like, and I have yet to have an infected beer (or problem beer or taste deviation or whatever we're calling it). But, I can say that there are so many options out there that if the response to customer issues continues to be as I have seen in their response in this thread then things won't work out well. Their response reeked of pointing the finger back at the customer, and that was completely uncalled for. I would like to see other examples of continuing businesses that responded to customer service in such a manner.

You may have had a different experience when contacting them in person, but it appears many others haven't had a good experience over e-mail communication, as well as what they responded to in this forum.

This whole situation is eerily similar to Short's around 2010.

Before they started flash pasteurizing everything?

The thing is, there is no doubt that this beer shows all the classic signs of a contamination of wild (unintended) yeast. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out.

It does however take a blind faith to ignore. Wild yeast contamination and dinosaurs aren't real

anyone remember how Central Waters handled their Peruvian Morning issues aside from just not not making the beer anymore? i really loved that beer but remember it having the same issues where some bottles were fine and others went sour at varying rates. did they compensate people at all?

I gave away half my case before this recent revelation, and I still have half a dozen to go. I would hardly consider drinking one every couple weeks chugging.

No 2014 Hipsters left. They long gone. But good to hear its holding.

Drinking Hazel's (Black Friday release) now. No problems at all. Tastes as amazing as it did in November.

CW gave refunds even sans bottles for Peruvian Morning. That was like 3 years ago? You could just call them and they would take care of it. Kinda like Goose did a month ago. I think it's safe to say CW was a small brewery at the time.

CW is definitely not a big brewery. I would put it on the level of OSA, maybe a little bigger now but when they had the issues about the same size as OSA now. Been there many times and besides Founders is one of my favorite breweries. My basement is full of their stuff and can't wait for Cassian Sunset in a few weeks!

They actually had issues with PM several years. If you look it up it actually says "recalled due to infection". Don't think it happened instantly but wasn't 3 months like Hipster, somewhere in between but can't remember exactly. Classy brewery who stepped up.

Going to just come out and say I enjoy the shit out of Odd Side beers. I've now had 1 Hipster and 2 BBA Mayan Mocha since this thread started (still sitting on 4 BBA Mayan Mocha and 7 Hipster Brunch)

The Hipster is definitely 'changing' - Personally while I think there's some tartness developing, I also enjoy the beer just as much as I did when it was released (I'm NOT a big fan of sours, as much as I'm trying to develop a taste).

The first Mayan Mocha I had was definitely soured - I don't really drain pour beers so I was able to finish it without issues. The second Mayan Mocha was starting to develop some tartness as well, but was actually enjoyable (aside from the strong acetic acid/vinegar aroma). I actually bought a regular Mayan Mocha the next day and the taste was night/day different (barrel flavor aside).

What cracks me up with this thread at this point is: A large number of those reading this have the $ resources to pay to have their beer independently tested...Yet nobody has regardless of how many of you are suggesting just that. Having worked for a test lab (flammability, corrosion, temp/humidity aging, etc...), I have a pretty good understanding of the fact that ANY variance can create a much different product (part of the reason why I'm about to have a temp/humidity controlled/monitored walk-in cellar in the near future). A large number of you posting your discontent haven't even contacted Odd Side personally to see if they'd be willing to 'make things right'. I'm not sure how it's acceptable to hate on a brewery when you haven't even taken the time to contact them personally about it (ie make a phone call vs. sending them a BM on here, a PM on facebook, etc...)

I only say this for 2 reasons... 1) If I HAD the money and were that unhappy, I'd gladly fork over a few $ to confirm my suspicions (or I'd just do the damn testing myself given my chemical background) and 2) The folks at Odd Side are some of the most laid back / friendly / good people I've ever met at a brewery. If you do have an issue just stop in or give them a call; I'm sure it will work out more favorably than just ranting on here...

I'll likely stop in tomorrow (as I'm remodeling a local big box store 5 minutes away from the brewpub) and have a conversation with some of the staff. For those who want to boycott OSA; that's fine - Just realize that BA is but a small fraction of the craft beer population (see: your opinions may mean something here, but in the grand scheme of things they mean nothing. Just speaking truth guys....). At the end of the day, OSA will (like I said earlier) be just fine...

Lol, guy works for an A2LA lab and wants us to pay to test the beer...

    Obvious infection is obvious.

The OSA white knighting is entertaing tho.

I did a side by side with a 14 and 15 BBIMM and the 15 was WAY off and sour. YMMV.

Why should I (we) have to pay to test beer? The onus shouldn't be on the consumer to prove to the brewer that there is an infection. The proof is in the pudding, or the taste for that matter. Odd side has obviously not cared up to this point, so what's a test going to do? Are they suddenly going to change their tune? Thanks guys, we called you liars but we are realllly sorry now. Once you start hurting their sales, then companies start to listen. Social media is a strong influence so maybe it's time to step up the game and start pounding other forms of social media to encourage a more customer friendly response from them.

We don't need to contact them directly to see if they will make it right. They have already said they won't, check page 12 for their comments, at least on BBIMM. They haven't said anything about Hipster which was released after BBIMM and therefore turning sooner.

How do you know that independent tests aren't already in progress?
