I feel like Grimm has been in CA for quite some time.

I have seen GRIMM around the Bay Area. I bought a bottle of Rainbow Dome recently at Beltramo's in Menlo Park. I have never seen any of their barrel aged stouts, I would definitely grab that double negative. I know the store you are talking about.

Yeah, I've seen their bottles at independent shops in L.A. and San Diego too. Super Going and Double Negative have been easy enough to find. Really enjoy their stuff.

i grabbed a few bottles of BA DN and frankly they sat on shelves in certain places and asked all the same places that got it if they were going to get the maple version but none did.

I actually liked the regular better than the BA version. Haven't tried the Maple yet though.

I've purchased Grimm up at Beercraft in Rohnert Park.

I tried the BA next to the regular at a share last fall and both were great but the BA was amazing. I proceeded to hype the living hell out of the beer to friends and was stoked to find a bunch of them find their way to CA. However, I found there was a lot of variation between batches and it wasn't nearly as good when I was able to land some in 2016.

What?! I was just in SD from NY and stopped by Bottlecraft but didn't see any Grimm. Had I known, I would've bought some BA Double Negative cause they're all sold out in NYC.

I was satisfied with my Pliny and Jester King finds though

Yup. Just got a bottle of BA Double Negative at my RWC shop. They have the maple coming in too, but opted for the regular BA based on reviews. Other grimm options there too, a gose I think it was. Haven't seen their IPA's here yet, but if I do, will get them fasho.

Here in the Bay Area I've seen the gose and have bought two bottles of barrel aged double negative. I want the IPAs though!

I have trouble getting excited about contract "brewers". Especially arrogant ones. If their stuff falls in my lap, I'll try it.

Are you calling Grimm arrogant? They have a strong presence on BA and are very helpful, never have seen any arrogance from them and people who know them say nothing but nice things.

Have to agree. Had several of Grimm's releases through trades. Will continue to trade for their great beers. IPAs to sours. It's all good.

What have they done that you consider to be arrogant?

So the consensus is that they are being contract brewed? From who?

    Westbrook? Drakes? Speakeasy?

They say right on their website that they're contract brewed:

Just been my impression. I've been wrong before. But it's sticking with me until something changes it. Until then I'm happy to try all beers. I'm just not terribly excited about them. My fridges are already bursting. Personal preference. Carry on. I'll see myself out.
