Planning on stopping at 3 Floyd's on my way to Iowa next Sunday (April 10), any suggestions as to what to expect? Any beer shops in the area, to stop at? Thanks in advance.

Expect good beer and food

They have their taplist and to-go bottle list posted online, so you can check it just before you go if you are curious what they will have. Can't promise any Zombie Dust.

Liquor Stop in Highland, IN is a pretty good beer shop, look for stuff from Burn'em Brewing and 18th St. while in Indiana. Also if you have time, 18th St Brewery in Hammond is worth checking out.

If you are looking for Pipeworks or other Chicago breweries' stuff, stop at Open Bottle in Tinley Park, right off I-80 on your way to Iowa, great shop and they have a taproom.

Expect a wait to get in. Once you get seated(no standing at the bar) expect awesome metal music to go with good beers

If they have Zombie Dust at the to-go kiosk, expect a line there too.

I'm pretty sure there is no chance of Zombie Dust for sale at the kiosk. Not sure how many times in the past year it's been for sale on a Sunday.

But, you'll enjoy yourself with the food and plenty of good beers on draft, plus quality stuff on sale at the kiosk.

No Sunday sales at the area liquor stores. Yeah, we're still ass backwards!

I'd take this over Ohio's dumb ass 12% abv law.

ZD will definitely be on tap (unfortunately their tap list has shrunk lately and replaced with more guest taps). Zombie has been more available than I can ever recall for to go sales (multiple case runs per week). I can't comment specifically about Sunday chances though. Side question: is there a comparable to 3F's in terms of size/importance that also doesn't do growler fills at all? Thought crossed my mind today

There is no reason for either in the 21st century. The damn lobbyists and their suitcases of cash keeping us in the Victorian era. Don't give up the fight to change the law! Cheers....

Sunday may be a tricky day.
I've always made a day trip with my brothers and sisters to Munster on weekdays. We arrive at 11am, and if ZD isn't on the to-go list, there will most likely be no line. If you arrive early on sun, you have a good chance of getting seated right away or in a relatively short amount of time to enjoy some great food and brew.
You're at FFF, why not daydrink??

I'm confused on this...I see ZD pop up pretty much once a week on Tuesday or Wednesday and last for a day or so. Are you saying it is available more than once per week?
I have wondered this same thing.

I was there yesterday (Friday) and they a room full of ZD cases + more in the back. I see it a lot more frequently. Never seen it on the weekend though.

It was mentioned earlier, but I would also recommend a stop at The Open Bottle in Tinley Park, IL. About 25 minutes from 3 Floyds, I-80 at Harlem Road exit. Open Sunday's.

If your going to Open Bottle you might as well walk across the street to 350 or a 2 minute drive to Hailstorm, both have to go beer for sale.

Many thanks for all the advice, got there at 10:45 (NO ZOMBIE DUST) on a Sunday. Short line, sat at the bar. Had a Zombie on tap. The staff are very friendly, no pressure. Did pick up some Alpha King to bring home. Good food.

I was there Saturday at around 2. Pretty sure they ran out of ZD Friday morning.
Didn't eat, but the food looked alright, and I got a few six packs of Alpha King and Robert The Bruce.

We stopped by there the last Saturday in Feb. and they had ZD for sale. My brother and I each picked up a case.

I'm jealous reading about all of this ZD and other 3 Floyd's experiences. No distro here... Someday I will try it, someday.

Don't be expecting to be treated like a king. You will be treated fairly and just be polite to the staff and take an interest in their beer. The horror stories that I read seem to come from people only looking for Zombie Dust. Appreciate the place and embrace the atmosphere and you will have a heck of a time

The kiosk might not be selling Zombie Dust but they always have a good offering, take advantage of it and soak in the experience

I have traveled for hours to get there and have made 10 or more visits and it has been perfect every time. If you go alone is much easier to get seated very quickly

Also you would be doing yourself a disservice if you do not go to the new 18th Street location in Hammond Indiana. They make excellent beer and is only 6 miles from Three Floyds
