I know this much... An couldn't be cooler. The first time I hit Mekong An hooked me up with ridiculous schwag. Damn good food too.

 

Stopped by today, looks like Mouth Hug and Pitted PLeasure -an apricot Berliner- are on tap soon, with a new IPA -Knockout Vert- being released next week.

 

Okay...what do you differ about in particular?

Let me be sure of what you're saying. It's your opinion, based on two growlers of IPA you've had from the Answer, they they're beers are as good - or better - than the "best" IPAs in NC. @JdoubleA, that's what you're saying?

What - out of curiosity - do you consider to be the best IPAs in NC? What about VA?

Sounds like a place I would like. I am 45 minutes from Richmond.......

 

I admittedly haven't had anything from Heist, Wooden Robot, or Lynwood, but i will say the Answer's IPAs are significantly more enjoyable to me than WW hoppy beers, Hop Drop, Jade, and even Scythe, which is a great beer. The fact that the Answer makes like 12 IPAs, all of similar quality, is probably the reason why several people are saying they have the best portfolio of IPAs in Virginia and the Carolinas. I tend to agree with that sentiment, but to each their own.

 

So I managed to go to South Street in Charlottsville, Strangeways, Hardywood, Mekong, The Answer, and LCCB. On the one hand the best IPAs I had were at The Answer but honestly none of them blew me away. I didn't take any crowlers home with me. Grand Larceny was a little better than Mouth Hug and both of them are solid 4 IMO but that's about it.

The Andall offerings are another matter. Holy Fuck! First thing I had was Dean's Nutz (at Mekong) and it's every bit as good if not better than Prop. At The Answer I had (in order of preference) Mounds Tiramisu, Phife Dog, Jose Ocampo, and Mounds Vesuvius. You guys are fortunate to have a place like that.

Their new Triple IPA, "She Bangin' " should also be on Friday. Their anniversary party details have it noted as being tapped "officially" tapped Sat but I've heard it will be on Friday evening.

 

Is She Bangin' a stepped up version of She Good? If so, man... want that. She Good is/was great.
