Can't tell if this is a serious question or sarcasm.

yes. every year of its release, Parabola can be found weeks later on shelves in Portland and I have never seen a bottle limit on it. In fact, the whole foods by my house had it on the shelf for over a month last year.

the well known "bottle" shops tend to sell quicker because that is where all the beer geeks know they will find it. but plenty of larger stores also get it and it will sit around for a while.

And I would rather eat sand than deal with trying to peddle Parabola on the secondary craigslist market. i already have a full time job.

I've been meaning to get out to Portland, not to look for shelf turd Parabola's, but if that's going to be an alternate benefit, it's time for a trip.

I don't think this is true. Parabajava allegedly sold out on Black Friday (the day it was released), but when I visited the Buellton taproom a few weeks later I was able to pick up a bottle. They normally just sell out of that day's allotment on the release day. It's quite common for FW to hold on to additional bottles and sell them throughout the year.

It's probably because most FW vintages are getting "un-hyped"? by the beer geeks. My local TW had a full box of Sucaba about a month after it released. Which is the reason I was able to get one. lol

Anyway, I hope Parabola stays on shelf's longer. :stuck_out_tongue:

This. I was at FW in Paso over the weekend, and for one, there was no line to get Parabola. There were a lot of people, but there wasn't a line. Maybe like a few people at the register. It is just through out the day they were non stop busy. Secondly, I picked up a bottle of Parabolajava. They had plenty more. The Brewery does not sell out. You can go to FW in a few months and there will still be 2016 Parabola. They hold onto cases and keep them there for their own distribution to their restaurant, tasting room and emporium. I went to the tasting room while I was there and was able to get a glass of 2015 Parabola, 2016 Parabola and 2015 Parabajava. Plenty to go around at the Brewery, but yes, in stores, they go fast. But, Succuba does sit on the shelves. I've seen it at many different bevmos, TW and liquor stores. But to be honest, that is not surprising. Would be surprising if it was Parabola, but not Succuba. Succuba is not on the same level of Parabola or the other limited release FW. It is not even close.

But Sucaba is one of their highest rated beers. Above most other Vintages...

That means very little. Sucuba is good. But no where near the level of Parabajava and Parabala.

So what you're saying is that it's still better than most of their vintages, which is what I was trying to point out. lol

I like Stickeemonkey, Velvet Merkin, Anniversary and Helldorado better than Sucuba. But I still do like Sucuba. It is still a very good FW beer. One of the best barley wines you will try (Bourbon County Barley Wine is much better) Plus, just because a beer is rated higher on the BA 250 does not mean it is better. Anything on that list is a superior beer, and then it is based on personal preference.

I take that back. I think Sucuba is better than Helldorado.

    Indeed.

Tongue-in-cheek, but you know, the internet makes it difficult to hear my tone. I get that a lot. Paying for shipping of any kind, trading, selling online or any of the like is a bit too time consuming for me. It's just remarkable sometimes that something so plentiful there, can cause fistfights in Chicago. Driving to Binny's or Capone's at noon during a workday moments after a tweet, only to find that their allotment of six bottles of Parabola had people waiting in line since the open, is a bit of a drag. Our market can take the fun out of beer.

I remember seeing a picture two years ago of a shelf full of marked-down Prairie Bombs on the West Coast, when people in Chicago were trading Bourbon Countys for them. Now, they're sitting on shelves in Chicago collecting dust. Demand is a finicky and ever-changing lady. Oh well. Cheers all.

I love Sucaba and I thought that 2013 Bourbon County Barleywine was indeed better, 2014 about equal and 2015 bourbon county barleywine is no where near as good, even uninfected ones. It would be pretty neat if Firestone ever used goose islands technique and aged a batch of Sucaba in freshly emptied Parabola barrels, Id love to try that!

Oh and to stay on topic Im half way thru my first bottle of 2016 Parabola and its amazing as always. Actually I dont know if its the slightly lower abv but this seems to be even better than previous years fresh. I remember the last 2 years at 14% I thought tasted slightly hot and could use just a little time to mellow, this year at 13.1% its not drinking hot at all to me.

Such an awesome brew and a great price. I wish every other brewery would use this as a measuring stick, if you cant make something equal to or superior to this then don't be an asshole and charge more than $16/22oz for it.

I'm not sure about Parabola. But I found quite some Sucaba in Chicago on shelf. I also found some 2015 Stickee Monkee last weekend, I got one bottle and there was another one left.

If you would just read the thread, you would have your answer. It won't be here for a couple weeks, which is the typical timing for FW's vintage beers after they're released at the FW store.

Why do you say that? Whole Foods is already sold out of it. Maybe BevMo will get it in the next week or so, but their FW Proprietor stuff distribution is a bit spotty.
