Do you have any options or recourse when you leave negative feedback on a trade because the other person did not want to come through with their side of the trade and then they decided to leave negative feedback because you did (even though I was not at fault).

Retaliatory feedback is supposed to be an instaban.

Post all the relevant details here. Mods will look and decide. Retaliatory feedback is cause for instant ban. You probably want to tag other trader for their side of story.

Perhaps move this to the bad traders section and explain the whole story? And yes, definitely tag the other trader (though I'm pretty sure I know who it is)

Trade Details- On March 11th. locked up and trade was accepted with @ThomasMendes1 with a large portion of his side of the trade coming from a visit to De Garde on March 13th

March 14th- Got a message saying he was sick and will go to the brewery next weekend
March21st- Got a message saying the rain and/or his car stopped him from going this weekend
March 22nd- Asked if he planned to go out the following weekend. No response
March 29th- Gave a last chance to respond or take action
April 4th- After two weeks, finally responded that he's "not gonna drive an hour an a half to rush a trade"

Decided that the excuses and lack of communication gave me very little confidence that a trade would be completed after it was agreed upon. He's sick, car troubles, feeling rushed, the weather and the 1 1/2 hour drive were all excuses with no commitment on his end. Those should have been factored in by him before he agreed upon the trade. He had several chances to take action and chose not to until it was too late. Here was the feedback.

    Left negative feedback (from me)-
Multiple excuses over a month on why he couldn't make it out to DeGarde (sick, weather, car, etc) to complete the trade & iffy communication

    Retaliatory negative feedback (from ThomasMendes1)-
unwilling to complete trade, seemed reasonable at first but not that way.

I also got a follow up message saying he would have gone out this weekend, but I left the negative feedback. He also gloated that leaving the negative feedback dropped my trading percentage from 100% to 95%.

Not siding one way or the other, but if nothing was sent and why are you two at the feedback stage? I always though feedback was to be given once the trade has been completed and both partied received their goods.

I mean, the guy seems like he acted inappropriately, but I would just cut my losses (more time and effort) and move on.

You've obviously traded a lot and have a stellar feedback rating. I would just ask the mods to delete the trade and any relative feedback and move on like it never happened.

@ClippersSD can you send me your conversation(s) with him?

Once that trade is agreed upon, feedback is fair game. If a deal is made and beer is never sent, proper bad feedback is acceptable.

People who reneg on deals or don't follow through need to have their trading history reflect that to warn other traders and as a deterrent from bad behavior.

    Ok, I've read the conversation.

I've also edited the thread title and moved it to the bad traders forum.

    @ThomasMendes1

You've been tagged as a bad trader.

Aside from the visual scarlet letter and among other things, you can no longer start threads or conversations or receive new conversations.

You need to respond and remove the bad feedback you left for @ClippersSD

He was open and honest the entire time and let you know exactly where he stood in the matter. He even told you he would leave negative feedback and you stated that he "had every right to".

To your credit, you stated that you would send a "free" box as a courtesy to make up for your "shittyness" (your word) and "regardless of feedback".

We're all glad you learned not to trade beer that you didn't already have (your words again).

But then you *clearly* left retaliatory feedback, even joking that by doing so that the OP's trade rep went down to 95% after while yours was only down to 97%.

You've got a week from the time of this post to make things right after which your account will be banned. I know in the past we've made this an "instaban", but this case is out of the ordinary (IMO).

Also tagging @Todd so he's aware of the situation.

This is an odd one and another example of why pre-trades are stupid and should be banned.

Both agreed to a pre-trade with one side never making the trip to go get beers in less than one months time. Neither sent beer. Did the OP go out and buy beer FOR this trade?

Obviously retaliatory feedback is a no-no and communication (and excuses) weren't great, but was the original bad feedback warranted? Was an initial timeline discussed in advance of when he needed to make the trip or receive bad feedback?

Just curious really. Typically people are too gun shy in leaving warranted bad feedback but this looks much more like a neutral instance to me. Maybe I'm just too understanding in this case because I often have to make an hour trip to Cycle and it can be tough?

This could be an interesting precedent I suppose.

upset to get a bad review because if you look at my other feedback I've never had an issue. On multiple occasions I extended an offering of a free box of beer for messing up and prolonging the trade. I still wanted the trade I just didn't have the agreed upon beers so naturally I thought giving him free beer that would include some degarde (said in convo) would ease things over.. He didn't send anything and neither did I. Why get so up in arms? Given a free box of beer for just having a conversation??? What's to be so angry about? I have 31 good traded and one goes wrong and you wanna ban me? Doesn't that seem extreme.
