My recommendation would be, while I understand there are a LOT of great places to go in Portland, trying to see them all will make for a hectic and less enjoyable trip. Pare down some man, or you're gonna be running to get to all these places.

Well done on the homework. That's a very ambitious few days you have planned. Personally, I don't think there's much to add as you'll likely stay busy enough working through what you have. Commons and Upright come to mind but neither are open on the days you're here as I'm sure you already know. Bridgeport rarely has anything other than what you can find in bottles but it's not necessarily bad. If you're looking for dinner with a good taplist you might consider Wildwood while in the Northwest area on Tuesday. My only other recommendation is Water Avenue Coffee if you're a coffee lover. You'll find it one block away from Hair of the Dog on (go figure) Water Avenue. A classic small batch coffee roaster with professional friendly baristas without being overly pretentious. Have fun!

It looks like Wildwood is next door of our hotel (We're staying at the inn @ Northrup), thanks for the recommendation

I'm indeed a coffee lover, will visit Water Avenue Coffee

Forgot to tell, on friday we are moving to Resicence Inn @ Lloyd Center and will spend the day shopping (actually my wife will be). I've planned going for dinner to Widmer Brothers. We depart the next day back to México

I know the itinerary looks pretty ambitious, it reflects what we'd like to visit but there's no need to go to all the places, if we're having a good time somewhere we won't leave to check in at the next.

    Cheers

Sounds good to me. As far as the bigger breweries go (Rogue, Deschutes, Bridgeport, Widmer) I like Widmer's brewpub the best. Good food and the one-off beers are typically excellent. Usually the special taps are German styles that don't necessarily get done too often elsewhere so that may be part of the draw. Deschutes runs a close second but their one-offs are a little more PNW typical stylistically and don't often set themselves apart from the myriad of other breweries making similar stuff.

I agree wholeheartedly. That looks more like work than a vacation.

As said in a previous post only rephrasing. I'd be very happy if we can do everything on the itinerary, also I'd be very happy if we can do only one thing every day (the itinerary isn't set in stone).

No one likes the threads asking what to do in a particular city (read, there're plenty of suggestions) and it seems almost no one likes a thread with an itinerary made after reading the suggestions. I'm confused

I ain't mad. Do what you like. The open ended threads are fine by me so don't lump me in with a few grumps.

I'd say it's overly ambitious. If you like coffee you should stop at Barista while you are
In the pearl. Water ave and barista are both amazing. Barista is only
About 2 blocks from Bridgeport, which IMO you could skip.

    Cheers

You can skip Belmont too, stick with Beermongers. Friendlier service and killer low prices

If I skip Belmont should I also skip HBP to shorten the itinerary??

Regarding your itinerary - Are you going to be shipping beer back home? If not I'd take the bottle shops out of the mix.

If you want to get out of the city for a day, Hood River is a favorite of mine and only about an hour or so from Portland. Full Sail, Double Mountain, and Big Horse are all great places to have a beer & a meal. Logsdon is just outside of town too although I've never actually visited the Farmhouse. Not sure what they do as far as visits/tours.

On the way you can stop at Mutnomah Falls, which would be a treat for the non-beer-geek types.

You'd have to scrap a Portland day of course, but I could leave out a lot of what you have in favor of a Hood River trip.

Yes, I'll be taking back some beers with me but could skip most bottle shops and go only to one, which one would you choose (location and selection-wise)??

How difficult is getting to Hood River without a car??

Never gone to HBP, it does have quite a repuation though if you are into the whole English ale thing

You'd need a car as far as I know. Maybe some PDX types know of another option but I don't.

I'll leave bottle shops to the locals since I've only been to Belmont Station. I'm actually about 7 hours from Portland on the east side of WA so only get there once in a while.

Not really into the English ale thing, wouldn't matter skipping HBP
