Ive recently done the same and have gone full circle. I still occasionally chase styles ive still not had or grab new releases like stones red ipa and new belgium finally hitting NJ, but im much happier grabbing beers i know ill enjoy with only the occasional mix up. I still buy singles 90% of the time, because ill drink 2/6 and the rest will sit there. But if i like it i just go back in a day or so to grab the six. After all, the sixer of a czech pils is more likely to still be there if i want to grab more, unlike super hyped beers. Im starting to not mind the hype. While everyone is chasing KBS and bourbon county or those tubid dipas, it leaves the pils, porter and saisons for me. Cheers.

Sierra Nevada is damn good. To be honest, the only reason I don't drink more of their stuff is that I like drinking new beers every night. They simply work. I also think that's their downside, like classic German/Belgium beers, they're flippin' great, but they don't have that hype surrounding them.

I do fully intend on stocking up on some Sierra Nevada IPAs this summer. I may rotate that selection, but it'll still happen. And seeing more and more SN in cans is great! Graduating college this summer and hitting up a road trip and a float trip. May keep my cooler stocked with all SN

Lots of great floats in your neck of the woods. I grew up in Arkansas, the Ozarks are just fantastic for outdoor activities.

You might well be crazy, but you're not alone. And that's why just a few days ago, in a bottle shop with TONS of varieties, myself salivating like Pavlov's dog, I walked away with a SN variety pack. I walked away with my head held high, my taste buds happy, and my wallet a little fuller, feeling good about my decision too. I won't do that every time, but when I do, I will accept no guilt or shame!

I just wonder why my local grocery stores have loads of other (crap) craft beers (that cost more) when I wish they just had the full roster of SN beers instead of just SNPA and maybe Torpedo and Hop Hunter.

An 89 score on BA is pretty good, IMHO.

Sierra Nevada is affordable and available.

And if you want something harder than SNPA there is always Torpedo in almost every store.

Love SN, although I will say I've been disappointed lately that my favorite among their offerings - Kellerweis - has been displaced on the shelves by Otra Vez and Nooner. Been craving a Kellerweis like no other lately. Someday we'll be reunited.

And, FWIW, I've always (since the first time I had it, in the early 90's) considered SNPA to be an IPA.

I don't get why ppl like Nooner especially compared to Summerfest - almost flavorless in comparison. Wish they'd go out on a limb (meaning not many year round good domestic Kolsch) and replace Nooner with the SN Kolsch - that's a great beer. I'd buy cases of it.

If I could get both Nooner and SN Kolsch in 12 pack cans year round I would have a serious drinking problem.

My beer fridge pretty much always has a 12 pack of Nooner cans plus either Hop Hunter or SNPA. Forget price - these are just damn good beers.

Nooner and Hop Hunter are the 2 biggest recent disappointments for me from SN - Nooner I already mentioned and Hop Hunter is too dry for my tastes. Otherwise I am a big big SN fan. We all have different preferences and all that but - I can't find other SN favorites like Porter, Stout, etc b/c of all of these recent (subpar IMO) beers replacing them on the shelf.

Welcome Back, Kotter. Sierra Nevada is one of, if not, the best all around brewery in the country. They are a ground breakingly responsible business, they make excellent drinkable beer. SN is available almost everywhere and they are affordable. So unless one is on a Pokemon-like hunt for beers there is no reason for one to miss out. And I agree, Five Hop is exceptional. This is the best 4-Way IPA pack.

Nooner's a german pils and Summerfest is a Czech pils. I generally prefer German pils' so that's why I like Nooner so much. I think I'm just not a fan of Saaz hops.

But as long as it doesn't come at the expense of Nooner, we can definitely hold hands and sing by the fire with the Kolsch though!

Price point goes a long way. Yes, it's great beer but it's always affordable. Ballast Point is great, and twice as expensive. im not expecting breweries to get into a price war, but I think affordable prices go further than a lot of people realize, especially when distributed nationally.

I've gone out many times looking for new and interesting beers to try, if nothing catches my eye I'm grabbing Torpedo. This will always be my go to beer, not just for the price but because it tastes so dam good. People can say anything they want about SN I don't care if the beer tastes good it's a good beer!

I hear ya, especially on the budget part.

Until recently, SN Pale Ale and Torpedo was $11.99 a 12 pack. Now it's $12.99. Can't go wrong

(Lag Sucks @ $7.99 a sixer is a damn good deal too)

SN represented a "graduation" of sorts for me. I enjoyed Sam Adams Boston Lager for a long time (1991 - 1997ish,) then I moved on to other craft brews, but got hung up on Heineken when my roommate in NY insisted on it 100% of the time (he was very hung up on image and he was convinced that Heineken projected a certain image.) I just drank it to avoid conflict. I then discovered SNPA around 2001 and I've been hooked on it since. Like most other posters here, if I want a good brew cheap, I usually grab a SNPA.
