I hate to necro, but I feel like I saw this happen with Forgotten Boardwalk and Bolero, they took notice, and then decided to do it as well. I'd rather breweries not do clubs like these until they are much established.

I went up to DB back in November and am seriously struggling to find a reason to head back. I had maybe one or two beers out of a ridiculous lineup that I thought were good, but I could immediately name a better one at a brewery in New Jersey. Their DIPA was okay, but I literally live in between Carton and Kane. And for just a few minutes, I could hit up Magnify or even Cypress.

After the backlash of their membership situation, did anybody actually try their first bottle?

Looks like sadmachine did. I was curious about the bottle but decided against it for a few reasons, the first of which was that they never released the base RIS before releasing the BA version. The second being a more expensive bottle than Kane charges. Sorry, guys, not gonna do it.

Seemed to be getting good reviews on Untappd

    Bingo.

    I'm skeptical about Wrath.

I foolishly impulse-bought the membership last fall (stupid Facebook ad...) and picked up my bottle yesterday. Nice glasses... I'll report back when I crack it.

Yesterday, the tap room was very busy, but no one was buying the bottles. They had four people sitting at a sales table, with no customers. After I left, I got an email offering 20% off my bill the next time I went it... I'm wondering how these guys are doing.

Funny enough, they may have been better equipped to handle a line than Other Half

That boggles my mind. I get being prepared, but at some point they had to realize, it wasn't happening?

Part of me thought this might be a bad weekend to release it to just because of AC Beer Fest. So basically was there an advantage to doing the membership for this release?

There isn't an advantage to doing the membership at all. I want to like Demented - it's in an area where there aren't many breweries, it has a fun tap room and the guys running it seem nice enough. But the beer isn't there yet and that's all people care about.

12 bottle limit scares me for Wrath. It's getting good reviews on untappd, but I'll wait until I buy. The owner was a little weird when they first opened. He asked me and my friends why we were there for the grand opening. I told him to drink his beer. I was less than thrilled with his beer.

They won 3rd place for their Amber Ale at AC Beer Fest. I would definitely say this is probably one of their better ones, but then again, they had 15 on tap and maybe 2 of them were memorable.

Call me crazy but for a new brewery I don't see the point of rolling out 15 different beers. Focus on 5, make them great, and slowly grow from there.

That's not crazy, this is continually what I keep saying. I've seen a few other breweries do that in Pennsylvania and New Jersey as well. If you want to have 8, fine... but really, start out with a solid core, go from there. Anything in the double digits right off the bat is excessive and makes me think (subjectively), that the focus of 2-3 beers is being split into 5-6 which is bringing down the quality of the overall product.

I could very well be wrong in that aspect, but at least that's what it makes me think.

Just have a core, have 8, and then make one or two of those be seasonals. And to be clear, I said 15, but really it was 13. Still though...(picture from 2015)

This thread is just 3 pages of people saying they suck and their membership sucks. Why are we still talking about them then?

Does anyone find it interesting that their head brewer quietly moved on a few months into business? Very telling to me.

Knowing the new head brewer and his background, I'm willing to give them a chance but some of ownerships moves so far have been head scratchers.

Because I think everyone is rooting for them to figure things out so the state can see another successful brewery. We'll see what happens.
